Donald Trump Has His Own Nationwide Address: Did Anyone Care?: Never one to leave a political opportunity on the table, former President Donald Trump gave his own speech that he compared to the America First version of the State of the Union Address.

It was only two minutes long, but Trump tried to look the same way he did as president, with American flags flanking him while speaking in an indignant tone.

We Have Seen This Look Before

The delivery was scripted as Trump appeared to be reading from a teleprompter while standing.

This was a short video – just under two minutes long. Trump looked the same as usual with a somewhat orange complexion, a shock of gray-blond hair, and his trademark dark suit with a red tie and American flag lapel pin.

Illegal Immigration Is Issue One

He started by resorting to an old standby theme – illegal immigration or as he called them – illegal aliens.

He claimed that undocumented people are in the United States from 160 countries, which sounds like a lot. This would mean that almost every state in the world has contributed to the problem.

It’s an International Crime Wave

“Drug cartels are now raking in billions of dollars from smuggling poison to kill our people and to kill our children, savage killers, rapists and violent criminals are being released from jail to continue their crime wave,” he said.

He also claimed that the murder rate under President Joe Biden is the highest in the history of the country.

Biden’s Economy Is a Failure

Trump then savaged Biden for overseeing an economy that has seen real wages go down, and gas prices going up.

He’s the Victim – Again

You can’t make it through a Trump-speaking opportunity without him complaining of grievances.

He again made himself out to be a victim of Biden’s weaponization of the federal government that is always seeking to persecute him, he explained.

Joe Biden Is Mutilating Children?

He said Biden is “waging war on free speech.” And that the president is “indoctrinating and mutilating our children.”

I’m not sure what he meant by mutilating children. Could this have something to do with gender reassignment surgery? It’s not clear from the video.

We’re Headed to Another War

Trump also said that the United States is heading to World War Three – probably referring to the conflict between Ukraine and Russia in which the Biden administration is leading the world in its response to the war.

Trump did not expand on his views about Ukraine – nor his secret plan to end the Ukraine war.

More of the Same

In all, the “speech” broke no new ground. It was not long enough to describe policy differences in great detail. Trump didn’t fumble any words, and he made no jokes or called the president names such as “Sleepy Joe.” He made the usually questionable exaggerations and offered difficult-to-decipher statistics.

Overall, it is not a bad idea to tape a rejoinder.

Donald Trump needs to stay in the news and make himself seem presidential. He wants to have a bully pulpit again where all eyes are on him to rob Biden of his moment.

Few Noticed

But it has to be seen as an exercise in futility.

The New York Times and the New York Post covered it. Still, most people were only interested in Biden’s address, and perhaps they paid some attention to the Republican response that was given by Arkansas Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders.

Trump can never share the limelight with anyone, even if that person used to work as a press secretary for his own administration.

This was Trump being Trump yet again. Fast and loose with the facts, making himself to be the victim, and seeking to take out Biden who is just beginning his own re-election campaign. Trump’s “real” State of the Union speech will not change any minds. It will disappear into the ether of C-Span and YouTube.

Maybe Donald Trump will fade away as well. We should soon find out as the 2024 GOP primary seems like it is fast approaching.
