AOC Goes On Warpath Against Fox News, Carlson: Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez or AOC has upped the ante in her beef with Fox News host Tucker Carlson.

AOC has been upset with Carlson ever since he called her “Sandy Cortez” which was the name he thinks AOC went by in high school.

The socialist congresswoman believes that Fox News and Carlson have incited violence during coverage of the January 6 insurrection.

Cortez wants news organizations like Fox to be called out, and even canceled by the government, for their behavior and for spreading “dangerous content.”

AOC Hates Fox News

In a recent interview with MSNBC’s Jen Psaki on April 23, AOC said that she wished the Dominion Voting Systems defamation case against Fox would have gone to trial instead of being settled out of court. She said public court proceedings would have been better for the country.

“What would have been best for the country, would have been to demand [an apology] and to not settle until we got that,” she said.

AOC feels that news organizations like Fox should be liable for what they broadcast, especially if it includes calls for violence.

“We have very real issues with what is permissible on air,” AOC said. “We saw that with January 6 and we saw that in the lead up to January 6 and how we navigate questions – not just a freedom of speech but also accountability for incitement of violence. This is the line that we have to really explore through law as well,” AOC explained.

AOC Reserved Vitriol for Tucker Carlson

The firebrand from New York singled out Carlson. “And when you look at what Tucker Carlson and some of these other folks on Fox do, it is very, very clearly incitement of violence. Very clearly incitement of violence.”

Don’t Forget Marjorie Taylor Greene as a Villain

It is not readily apparent how Ocasio-Cortez thinks that Fox incites violence.

She gave no examples beyond January 6. AOC wasn’t done with her accusations against conservatives.

She turned her attention to Speaker of the House Kevin McCarthy and said the leader is not really in charge of the Republican conference.

Instead, AOC believes Georgia Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene is calling the shots. AOC asserted that far-right MAGA adherents have taken over the leadership of Republican lawmakers.

She accused these elements of being racist and heinous.

AOC also said that Republicans want to completely ban abortion in America and cited the legal showdown in the Supreme Court for the use of the abortion drug mifepristone.

Tucker and Cortez Are at Each Other’s Throats

As for Tucker Carlson, AOC has fought against him since he called her a “rich, entitled white lady” in 2022 and not a person of color.

AOC’s father is of Puerto-Rican descent, and her mother was born in Puerto Rico, so she is definitely a Hispanic-American. AOC, in turn, called Carlson two derogatory names in Spanish.

It is a shame that the discourse between Carlson and AOC has gone into the gutter. Carlson is wrong to bring up race in the conversation, and AOC seemingly wants the government to censor Fox News putting a chill on free speech.

If you have policy differences with each other, it is counterproductive to hurl insults with racial animus. Argue the merits of ideology and policy stances instead or resorting to name calling. The whole feud between Carlson and AOC is childish. Debate the merits of the Green New Deal, for example, that AOC has just re-introduced in Congress. The Green New Deal calls for a radical transformation of society to fight climate change. Carlson could point out that the initiative might cost almost $93 trillion, and AOC could in turn invoke reasons why it is so important to fight global warming and other climate-related calamities.

Let’s keep it civil. There’s no reason for Tucker to race into the conversation or for AOC to call for the government to shut down a news network. Both need to lower the temperature and ensure the discourse doesn’t devolve into histrionics. The country is better off without these types of insults.
