A new country has emerged that played a role in Hunter Biden’s international business dealings. The country connected to Hunter Biden hasn’t been mentioned in various media discoveries since 2019. The president’s son received payment from a so-called “Romania deal,” and it is not entirely clear what the services rendered were for, except that they might have been connected to a Romanian national who was facing bribery and corruption charges in his home country. This shows a pattern of behavior that adds to the willingness of the younger Biden to engage in questionable business practices that are coming to light via his infamous laptop computer, a Congressional investigation, and glimpses into his activities from a prior spouse.

Another Wire Transfer, Another Country

A news conference on April 10 that examined Suspicious Activity Reports from banks associated with the Biden family found at least one wire transfer tied to Hunter that came from Romania. The U.S. House Oversight Committee unearthed bank records that showed the younger Biden received a significant payment from a source from the southeastern European country.

Give My Client a Cut of the Romania Money

This transaction was also corroborated by emails in 2016 and 2017 on Hunter’s laptop that showed he was discussing this payment with ex-wife Kathleen Buhle. Buhle wanted the money from Romania divided with Hunter. Due to the contentious divorce, lawyers for both Hunter and Buhle sparred over the money via email.

“On the disclosures, help me understand why it is taking so long to get this basic information. Hunter’s office confirmed to Kathleen a deposit of more than $120,000 into Hunter’s TD account, as funds from the ‘Romania deal,’” Buhle’s attorney Rebekah Sullivan wrote.

Sullivan asked for no delay in giving Buhle half of the $120,000 that was wired into Hunter’s account for the Romania transaction. Sullivan also wanted immediate disclosure of the amount of money that was in Hunter’s bank account.

Husband and Wife Desperately Needed Money

Sullivan’s email said that both parties were in severe financial difficulties. They owed $200,000 in taxes and they owed $100,000 in an outstanding loan to Buhle’s parents. Hunter had “maxed out” a cash advance line of credit from a bank and a credit card. And “their bills are not being paid.” Meanwhile, the lawyer said that Hunter was “enjoying time with Hallie,” referring to his late brother Beau’s wife who Hunter was dating.

Buhle had earlier admitted in court documents that she knew nothing about Hunter’s finances, but from the e-mails it is clear that she was aware of the Romania deal and wanted money from that transaction. She had previously told CBS News that her head was “buried in the sand” and she “barely understood” Hunter’s business dealings.

Helping Out of Romanian Business Mogul

Hunter had reportedly been hired by a Romanian wealthy businessman named Gabriel “Puiu” Popoviciu. He was being charged with corruption and bribery and the Romanian deal referred to legal services Hunter provided for Popoviciu. Joe Biden, who was then vice president, had called for Romania to fight corruption. It is not clear if Hunter’s father knew he had a client in Romania. The elder Biden had a meeting with the president of Romania at the White House in 2015.

James Comer, the chair of the House Oversight Committee, will likely pursue an investigation into Hunter’s connection with Romania.

It appears that Hunter’s overseas business dealings are becoming a more serious issue as each day passes as the committee continues to investigate bank transfers and the media looks at the emails on the laptop. It is clear that Hunter was desperate for money and did not mind that at least one client was involved in shady activities in Romania. This is more embarrassing for his father as it shows there might have been a link between the vice president’s policy positions and Hunter’s actions. Another troubling aspect of Hunter’s legal situation is that the congressional investigation shows bank activity, and this is backed up by emails on his laptop – a development that could land the younger Biden into more legal jeopardy.
