Jesse Jackson from his position as president of the organization.
Kamala Harris praised Jackson as “one of America’s greatest patriots” during the ceremony on Sunday, describing him as “someone who deeply believes in the promise of our country” and “a fighter for freedom and human rights for all people.”
Video footage of Harris’ making the remarks was quickly shared on social media – including by the official Republican National Committee Research Twitter account – which appeared to show the vice president adopting an accent she has never publicly used before.
With a smile, laughing as she spoke, Harris also told the audience that Jackson “define the rainbow.”
“Think about that! He defined the rainbow!” Harris said.
Popular conservative news blog The Gateway Pundit shared the video, stating, “Her fake accent is back!”
Remember When Kamala Harris Mimicked A French Accent, Too?
In November, 2021, Vice President Harris attracted online attention when video footage of her trip to the Institut Pasteur science lab in France showed her apparently adopting a faux French accent.
During the trip, which was designed to heal some diplomatic problems between the French government and the White House following the AUKUS submarine deal scandal, Kamala Harris talked of her love of science.
The vice president also argued that politics should be more methodical and logical, occasionally slipping in and out of a strange pseudo-European accent.
“In government, we campaign with ‘The Plan,’” Harris said. “And then the environment is such we’re expected to defend ‘The Plan’ even when the first time we roll it out there may be some glitches and it’s time to reevaluate and then do it again.”
While some argued that the vice president was actually just attempting to emphasize some words, Republicans argued that she was behaving foolishly.
Florida Republican congressional candidate Lavern Spicer said Harris was “making a fool of herself in France, talking to folks in some fake French accent.”
Former U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo slammed Harris for “embarrassing” the United States “on the world stage” during an interview with Sean Hannity on Fox News.
