Robert F. Kennedy, Jr: Joe Biden Needs to Let the Secret Service Protect Him – At the start of his campaign, RFK, Jr., sought to preempt the crazies of the country from seeking him out to murder him as they did his other family members.
That’s why he took the unorthodox step of requesting Secret Service protection more than 400 days from Election Day.
Yet, the Biden Administration, despite the obvious increased threat to RFK, Jr., since announcing his controversial challenge to Biden for the presidency, will not protect the Kennedy Family.
Go figure.
The Secret Service has stated that it is not their standard operating procedure to deploy a protective detail this early in the race. Usually, Secret Service protection is afforded to presidential candidates 120 days before Election Day.
But that’s not a static standard.
Ironically, it was following the gruesome murder of Robert F. Kennedy, who was about to become the Democratic Party’s presidential nominee in the 1968 Presidential Election until he was gunned down leaving a campaign rally at the Ambassador Hotel in Los Angeles, California, that prompted Congress to change the laws determining when presidential candidates can get Secret Service protection.
Rather than being a strict standard, the law states that “major candidates” of any party, at any time in a given presidential election can receive Secret Service protection.
Under today’s standards, since the Secret Service was moved from the Department of the Treasury to the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) following 9/11, it is the secretary of Homeland Security who determines which candidate is a “major candidate” worthy of Secret Service protection in a given election cycle.
What’s more, the secretary of Homeland Security is not bound by the 120-day mark that the Secret Service’s official spokespeople are citing when they are made to answer for why their organization is not providing protection for RFK, Jr.
It is a flexible timeline, taken on a case-by-case manner, decided by the political appointee who runs the DHS.
For example, in 2007, when Barack Obama was nowhere near the top of the Democratic Party’s Presidential Primary, Secret Service preemptively provided the Illinois Democrat his own protective detail.
Sure, RFK, Jr., is not a history-making candidate, such as the first African-American presidential candidate was.
But the long history of politically motivated murders directed against the Kennedy Family should be enough context needed to authorize a Secret Service protective detail this early during the campaign season for RFK, Jr.
What is Joe Biden Waiting For?
It is only the decision of the Biden Administration’s already embattled Secretary of Homeland Security Alejandro Mayorkas, that is preventing RFK, Jr., and his immediate family from not being given protection, even as they make their way throughout the country challenging President Biden, making themselves targets for the crazies who want to add another Kennedy to their kill list.
And the reason that Secretary Mayorkas made the decision to deny RFK, Jr., a protective detail for the duration of the presidential campaign likely was political. After all, Mayorkas reports directly to President Biden. At least someone at the White House, in Biden’s inner circle, if not Biden himself, was aware of RFK, Jr.’s request, and was nodding along approvingly with the DHS secretary’s short-sighted, politically motivated decision.
You see, the Kennedy heir is mucking up the carefully laid plans (as the Kennedys famously love to do) of the Democratic Party’s elite powerbrokers and donors. Certainly, RFK, Jr., is complicating an already difficult task that President Biden faces in running for reelection as an octogenarian, deeply unpopular president.
Not only is the DNC rigging its own primary to stymie RFK, Jr.’s political ambitions, but they just might be laying the conditions necessary to frighten RFK, Jr., into abandoning his challenge to Biden.
Each day that RFK, Jr., campaigns without the requisite Secret Service protection that all major candidates, such as RFK, Jr. clearly is, should be afforded is another day that the popular, controversial candidate could be murdered as his father and uncle were.
Does Joe Biden care? Does he even know?
It doesn’t matter.
The DHS must immediately reverse its bad decision and protect Kennedy until the campaign is over. Otherwise, it will always forever look suspicious to most people.
God forbid something bad does happen to RFK, Jr., while campaigning—and he doesn’t receive Secret Service protection in a timely manner—a whole new spate of conspiracy theories will be created that only further diminish public trust in our besieged institutions.
