Lauren Boebert Has a Serious Problem Now

Rep. Lauren Boebert is already being challenged by her 2022 opponent Adam Frisch, but now another Democrat is getting into the race.

Rep. Lauren Boebert is already being challenged by her 2022 opponent Adam Frisch, but now another Democrat is getting into the race.

Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-CO), the controversial conservative member of Congress, was nearly defeated in 2022 by Democrat Adam Frisch, winning by 546 votes in the nation’s closest race for Congress. Frisch is running against Boebert again in 2024 and has significantly outraised his Republican opponent so far.

Now, Boebert is getting another Democratic opponent.

According to CPR News, Grand Junction Mayor Anna Stout has announced a Democratic run for the seat.

Stout said in a statement to the outlet that she is running because Boebert “has repeatedly failed to represent our values in Congress, and her only accomplishment has been making a name for herself as a member of the most extreme faction of her party.”

Debby Burnett of Gunnison and Adam Withrow of Pueblo are also running for the seat.

“As the mayor of my hometown, the largest city in western Colorado, I have a record of bringing people together to get things done and listening to the people I represent,” Stout said in the statement. “I will take that same work ethic to Congress and build on my record of delivering real results for the hardworking people of our district.”

“I have a record of bringing people together to get things done and listening to the people I represent. I will take that same work ethic to Congress and build on my record of delivering real results for the hardworking people of our district,” Stout said in her statement.

The Cook Political Report, earlier this month, switched the Colorado race from “Lean Republican” to “toss-up.”

In her latest controversy, Boebert apologized, sort of, earlier this week after she was seen throwing aside a tribute pin for children killed in the Uvalde shooting. The pin had been handed to her by an activist who said to the Congresswoman — a gun rights absolutist who this year introduced legislation to make the AR-15 the country’s “national gun” —  “we hope you take action on gun violence prevention.”

“If anyone thinks that I was disrespecting a child who tragically lost their lives at the hands of an evil, evil person, I want to apologize for the appearance of that. But that’s not at all what it was,” she said, per The Hill.

“I simply did not want to receive anything from this aggressive man who has been harassing me and my office,” Boebert said, adding that she was wearing AirPods at the time.

Boebert did receive something of a boost this week, with the news that the conservative group the Club For Growth was readying a $20 million campaign cash fund for what they call the “Patriot 20.” Those are the members of Congress, including Boebert, Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL), and others, who opposed Kevin McCarthy’s bid for the speakership in January.

“Making our financial commitment public may serve as an effective deterrent to some potential challengers,” the group said in a memo obtained by Politico. “Moderate donors and candidates seeking to settle scores should save their money because we are prepared to win at all costs.”

While the effort is aimed towards protecting the seats of the five most “vulnerable” freshman Republicans, they will also “closely monitor” possible primary challenges to the likes of Boebert, Gaetz, Rep. Paul Gosar (R-AZ), and Rep. Andy Biggs (R-AZ).

The memo, per Politico, is intended to “spook any McCarthy allies plotting against those who voted against his speaker bid.”

The memo also stated that the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC) has targeted three members of Congress in particular — Lauren Boebert, Anna Paulina Luna (R-FL), and Rep. Scott Perry (R-PA) – and they will focus on trying to help them.

“Our primary role in the general election will be to help level the playing field against the Democrats’ spending advantage. We will do this by making independent expenditures with respect to conservative candidates targeted by the DCCC,” the Club memo said.
