Donors are souring on an embattled Lauren Boebert – Republican Colorado Representative Lauren Boebert, who is running for re-election next year, has her work cut out for her.

Donors seem to have been souring on the Colorado representative, who has only managed to raise $853,840 this quarter, a paltry sum compared to the whopping $3,388,244.66 her Democratic rival, Adam Frisch, has managed to secure for the same period.

The latest campaign filings also show that Boebert is managing her money less wisely, spending $2.3 million from her total year-to-date donations of $3.2 million, to Frisch’s $4.9 million from his $8.6 million war chest.

But her challenger from the Democratic party isn’t all her campaign needs to worry about. A more immediate concern as the primaries draw closer is Jeff Hurd, who has thrown his name into the hat for the Republican primary for Colorado’s 3rd Congressional District. Hurd’s campaign has been going strong so far, and he also enjoys the support of prominent Colorado Republicans. Hurd only announced his intention to run in late August, but has reported raising more than $412,000 for the year’s third quarter.

Analysts and political observers have been keeping a close eye on Boebert’s district, given that she only won against Fritsch last election by only more than 300 votes.

Conduct unbecoming

Another big worry for Boebert is her image, which has taken a beating of late.

She was kicked out of a theater showing a musical performance a few weeks back – initial reports said that Boebert was vaping and being excessively loud. Her campaign tried to brush the incident off, with her campaign manager Drew Sexton, saying, “’I can confirm the stunning and salacious rumors: in her personal time, Congresswoman Lauren Boebert is indeed a supporter of the performing arts (gasp!) and, to the dismay of a select few, enthusiastically enjoyed a weekend performance of Beetlejuice.”

But later reports show that Boebert was also engaging in extremely inappropriately intimate behavior with her date at the time, Quinn Gallagher – behavior caught on video and witnessed by many in the largely family-oriented setting. She was also shown to have been rude to security staff who escorted her out, flashing the finger at them while shouting, “Do you know who I am?”

To add insult to injury, it turns out her boyfriend – the public release is that the two are no longer seeing each other – is a registered Democrat. Not only that, he is the owner of Hooch Craft Cocktail Bar in Aspen, Colorado, which regularly hosts drags shows and other LGBTQ-friendly events. Boebert, a staunch Republican, has often condemned members of the trans and gay community. Campaign filings also show her spending money at the bar, ostensibly for “event catering” – where cocktails include offerings with names like “Crush on You” and “Spread Your Legs.”

“Take your children to CHURCH, not drag bars,” read a previous statement by Boebert.

Boebert, who has four children, recently finalized her divorce with her husband of 17 years.
