President AOC: Will She Run in 2024?

Is AOC Dropping Hints Of A Future Presidential Campaign? We Present a Unique Opinion on the Subject – Progressive New York Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez famously refused to confirm that she would back President Joe Biden in a 2024 campaign earlier this year, sparking rumors that she may be considering a run of her own.

Since then, we’ve heard little else about it. Would she really challenge Joe Biden or run if he chose not to?

There are no rumors of Ocasio-Cortez launching an exploratory committee and no signs that she is preparing to take on the Democratic party’s incumbent president.

That doesn’t mean, though, that the leader of the party’s progressive wing is ruling it out forever.

AOC Answers the Question In GQ Interview

During an interview with GQ magazine published earlier this year, Ocasio-Cortez answered the question of whether she plans on running for president a little more directly than she has in the past.

“I live in a country that would never let that happen,” Ocasio-Cortez claimed.

It was a shocking condemnation of a majority of the American voting public; a claim that the American people would never elect somebody based on their race or their gender.

The election of former President Barack Obama in a landslide in 2008 should be all the evidence that Ocasio-Cortez needs to know her claim is not valid, but apparently, it wasn’t.

“It’s very difficult for me to talk about because it provokes a lot of inner conflict in that I never want to tell a little girl what she can’t do. And I don’t want to tell young people what is not possible. I’ve never been in the business of doing that,” Ocasio-Cortez said.

The GQ report claims that, as Ocasio-Cortez spoke, “tears pooled in the corners of her eyes.”

Is It A Ploy?

AOC’s lack of enthusiasm – or her belief that she could never indeed win the presidency, however – does necessarily mean she isn’t considering a run of her own – now or in the future.

The New York congresswoman is known for her political theatrics, appearing to break down and cry outside of a detention center for illegal aliens and attracting attention by appearing on any magazine cover she can.

This politician likes the media spotlight, loves being part of a story, and takes joy in beating the odds and defeating the “prejudiced” and “racist” system she’s actually now a part of.

Claiming she lives in a country that would never allow her to become president, therefore, sets her up for an even more significant victory in the future if she does decide to run for president and win.

And if she loses? Well, these comments will form part of her defense. She could never possibly have won, she might claim, because the system is corrupt, racist, and biased against progressives.
