Joe Biden Addresses Hunter Biden Business Deal Story…Sort Of – President Joe Biden doesn’t talk much about his son, Hunter Biden, and the many business deals he appears to have made off the back of his father’s prominence in U.S. politics.
On Monday, however, the president was forced to address new revelations about Hunter’s overseas business deals when he was asked by Fox News White House correspondent Jacqui Heinrich if he ever spoke to his son about the deals.
“Did you ever speak with Hunter about his business deals?” the report asked, to which the president simply responded, “no.”
In the video, the president is seen walking past reporters, followed by Vice President Kamala Harris. Biden stops to listen to what Heinrich is saying, responds, and then appears to stand and glare at the reporter for a couple of seconds before turning and leaving the room.
Biden made the comments after he gave a speech as part of his “Investing in America” tour. During his remarks, the president announced the latest step in his plan to improve the country’s high-speed internet infrastructure.
The Latest On Hunter Biden’s Business Dealings
While the president has faced accusations that he knew more about his son’s overseas business dealings than he lets on for more than two years now, the issue is particularly important in the wake of reports that Hunter Biden used his father as leverage to obtain money from Chinese associates.
Last week, documents released by congressional investigators – backed by an IRS whistleblower – reveal how the president’s son was wired $5 million in August, 2017, just days after he sent a threatening message to a Chinese associate. In the message, Hunter Biden repeatedly reminded the associate that he was sitting next to his father.
“I am sitting here with my father and we would like to understand why the commitment made has not been fulfilled. Tell the director that I would like to resolve this now before it gets out of hand, and now means tonight,” Hunter Biden told the CEO of a Beijing-based asset management company, Harvest Fund Management, on July 30, 2017.
On August 4, $100,000 was wired to Owasco, Hunter Biden’s law firm. An additional four days later, on August 8, $5 million was wired to Hudson West III, another company owned in part by Hunter Biden, by CEFC Infrastructure Investment.
While there is no evidence that Hunter Biden was sitting next to his father at the time of the message, or that his father was directly involved in the deal, the case does add to the mountain of evidence that suggests that Joe Biden – then the former vice president – may be the “Big Guy” repeatedly referred to during Hunter Biden’s messages with international business associates.
