“It’s a waste of time,” chirped Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) in her best Valley Girl impression, referring to Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-CO) and Rep. Marjorie Taylor-Greene (R-GA)’s calls to impeach President Joe Biden. “I mean, they don’t have any grounds.” She added.
The Socalist Democrat then pivoted and attempted to shame her Republican colleagues by saying that, “We should actually be working.”
I used to say that former President Barack Obama was the least self-aware person in politics. Now, that title must be handed to the woman who is likely the female version of Barack Obama in today’s increasingly radical Democratic Party, AOC.
How she could make the claims about the Republican attempts to impeach Joe Biden when she dutifully followed—even, at some points, led—her party’s insane witch hunts against former President Donald J. Trump while he was in office smacks as both hypocritical and, well, clueless.
What’s Good for the Goose is Good for the Gander
After all, the Russia collusion delusion that gripped the paranoid minds of AOC and her fellow Democrats throughout Trump’s only term in office was verifiably false.
In fact, Special Counsel Robert Mueller who doggedly pursued every possible Russian under every bed at Mar-a-Lago and inside every bathroom at the White House during the Trump Administration was forced to admit as much after nearly two years of having led the baseless investigation into illicit ties between Russian intelligence and the Trump Campaign in 2016.
What’s more, AOC and her fellow Democrats kept at it.
Rather than admit they were fools for having believed such patent sophistry cooked up by a mercenary former British intelligence agent, Christopher Steele (who was known among his Cambridge classmates as a “fabulist”) and furthered by the vengeful Hillary Clinton to undercut Trump’s presidency, the Democrats kept looking for opportunities to undermine Trump’s presidency.
Their ceaseless attacks on Trump were not merely political. That’s to be expected from either party dealing with a president from the opposite political party. The Democrats weaponized their offices, lied to the people, and manipulated the pliant press to undermine the very institution of the US presidency just to damage the mean old Orange Man in the White House.
The people’s trust in their institutions had been under assault for many years prior to the rise of Trump. But the Democrats did more damage at one time to the institutions they claimed to be so concerned about defending than any other group at any other time in our nation’s history.
And AOC contributed to that by taking part in the vicious lies and smears that the Administrative State, along with the gross partisans of the Democratic Party, and their allies in the media and academia had concocted to ruin the forty-fifth president’s tenure in office.
By the time the novel coronavirus was unleashed from Wuhan, China, Americans were more divided and at odds with their institutions than at any other time since the US Civil War.
That was not entirely Donald Trump’s fault. Nor was it something that just occurred naturally. It was the result of the Democratic Party’s Ahab-like quest to destroy their orange whale, Donald Trump, who had dared to defeat their preferred candidate, Hillary Clinton, in 2016.
There Will Never Be a Good Time for the Democrats
The Democrats argue that neither Rep. Boebert nor Greene have a basis for impeaching Biden (or, for that matter, current Biden Administration secretary of Homeland Security, Alejandro Mayorkas). Of course, what they’ve apparently forgotten was that they had no basis to go after Trump the way they did for four years.
Hence, part of the reason for why Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA) was successfully censured. He was one of the biggest cheerleaders of endless witch hunts into Donald Trump. It turned many of his colleagues off.
But the Democrats have a point in one regard. Many on the Left are arguing that the American people are not going to support an impeachment of Biden because the Republicans do not have the evidence (yet) to support impeachment proceedings.
They are erroneously using the failure of the Trump-appointed special prosecutor John Durham investigation to find any Democrat perfidy related to Hillary Clinton’s funding of the Christopher Steele dossier as proof that the GOP has no basis for anything.
Of course, they are purposely conflating things.
After all, the GOP is looking into claims that Hunter Biden served as a possible conduit for his father and the massive, international, long-running potentially illicit influence-peddling scheme that the First Son was running to exchange gobs of cash from foreign leaders and heads of multinational corporations for access to Joe Biden.
That investigation is still ongoing.
Republicans Must Endure a Rigged System
Sadly, though, there are many hurdles that the House Republican investigators must overcome that the House Democrat investigators never had to contend with in their various witch hunts against former President Trump.
Unlike the Democrats, the Republicans, according to Rep. Byron Donalds (R-FL) are being actively stymied by a corrupt FBI that is refusing to share documents that could prove financial linkages between Hunter Biden’s potentially corrupt business and his father’s personal bank account.
What’s more, the media has spent years smothering the so-called “normies” in the American population with pro-Democratic Party propaganda to numb them to any claims from the GOP about Hunter Biden and his father’s supposedly illicit international influence-peddling scheme. It has worked.
So, in that way, AOC and the Democrats are right: most Americans are not going to be swayed too seriously by the GOP unless they have dynamite evidence.
Although, AOC and her comrades should keep in mind that most Americans polled believe that the purported crimes of both President Biden and former President Trump are “serious” and that both men should be thoroughly investigated.
AOC and her fellow Left-wing partisans are being disingenuous when they act as though there’s nothing to the accusations against Biden to warrant an impeachment—especially given how paper-thin the impeachment into Donald Trump was. Perhaps now is not the right time for the Republicans to bring articles of impeachment. But that time is coming soon.
Make the Democrats Pay…and Joe Biden
And I, for one, look forward to watching the Democrats endure the same awful treatment that they subjected the Republicans too—for far murkier reasons than what the Republicans are seeking to put the Democrats and Biden through.
My friend and fellow author, Michael Walsh, loves to say that “the Democrats wouldn’t have any standards if not for their double-standards.” He’s correct. I, though, am tired of being on the wrong end of Democratic Party double-standards.
It’s time that Republicans put the Left in its place.
