John Kerry Is a Climate Hypocrite

White House Climate Czar John Kerry has a hypocrisy problem when it comes to his use of private planes and other aircraft more generally, congressional Republicans say.

White House Climate Czar John Kerry has a hypocrisy problem regarding his alleged use of private planes and other aircraft more generally, congressional Republicans say.

Kerry pounds his chest about climate change; however, they argue he is not willing to personally make the sacrifices that he expects everyone else to make. His February 2022 speech in Egypt typifies his “the sky is falling” rhetoric.

“My friends, we know with certainty that it is human activity causing this, and only human activity can change course. And we know — thanks to a landmark report the IPCC released four years ago — that to avoid the worst impacts of this crisis, we must limit global temperature rise to 1.5 degrees Celsius. We are already at 1.2 [degrees Celsius],” Kerry said during the February 2022 speech.

“We also know that some climate impacts are now irreversible. So, the question, at this point, is not whether we can altogether avoid the crisis – it is whether we can avoid the worst consequences. That is the grim choice we have left ourselves because of procrastination, disinformation, greed, indifference, and even lies.

“The test ahead of us is not just a political and diplomatic challenge to tame mother nature – it is a test pitting human nature against itself.”

In May, he told the Associated Press that he doubts the world can stave off a climate disaster. He suggested that the continued burning of fossil fuels will increase global warming and that the effort to move away from them should be enhanced.

Kerry Pollutes the Earth While Preaching Climate Justice

He denies owning a private jet; however, Fox News Digital found that a Gulfstream GIV-SP owned by the Kerry family made “48 trips that lasted more than 60 hours and emitted an estimated 715,886 pounds, or 325 metric tons, of carbon over the course of the Biden administration’s first 18 months.”

The jet is owned by Flying Squirrel LLC, a company owned by Kerry’s wife, Teresa Heinz-Kerry.

“Bottom line is that the climate czar is showing a climate hypocrisy when he and his family left a 325 metric ton carbon footprint from their private jet,” Rep. Cory Mills, R-Fla., told Fox News Digital, last month after he testified about his personal travel habits. “Meanwhile, Kerry expects the average American to be carbon-neutral and to buy things like unreliable EVs they can’t afford.”

Similarly, Rep. Brian Mast, R-Fla., took Kerry to task for being an unelected bureaucrat trying to force Americans into a lifestyle that he does not embrace himself.

“Whether it was his jet or his wife’s jet is missing the forest through the trees. John Kerry is an unelected bureaucrat who’s making decisions that have major impacts on the lives of Americans, the overwhelming majority of whom are going to be more worried about the cost of gas to drive their cars to work, not the cost of fuel to fly a jet to King Charles’ coronation,” Mast told Fox News Digital.

Kerry Pushes Back Against Republicans

Kerry pushed back against Republicans last month after they grilled him during a House Foreign Affairs Subcommittee on Oversight and Accountability hearing. Republicans questioned him about his alleged hypocrisy.

He claimed to have flown on the jet at least once before his family sold the jet during his time as Joe Biden’s climate envoy.

“We don’t own a private jet. I don’t own a private jet; I, personally, have never owned a private jet,” Kerry said, denying the Fox Digital claim.

A State Department spokeswoman denied that Kerry uses a private plane for his activities.

“I can confirm the plane previously owned by his wife’s family was sold last summer,” Kerry’s State Department spokeswoman, Whitney Smith, told The Washington Examiner. “Secretary Kerry travels commercially in his role as special presidential envoy for climate.”
