“Be Your Own Defense,” is the motto Beretta USA has introduced with its new APX A1 Carry, the “latest evolution” of the firearm maker’s popular APX Carry platform. Built for everyday carry and suited for anyone with personal defense in mind, the compact handgun features improved trigger pull, red-dot optic-ready slide and improved modularity. The striker-fired 9mm pistol is available in four configurations using either the 6-round APX magazine or the larger 8-round version.

The new handgun was introduced at this past weekend’s 2021 USCCA Concealed Carry and Home Defense Expo in Fort Worth, Texas.

“Beretta USA is excited to be bringing the latest variant of the APX family to market,” said Jeff Hobson, VP of Marketing and Sales at Beretta USA. “We are embracing the red dot optic revolution and excited to be bringing an exciting and innovative offering to the concealed carry market that further eases training and use under stress for defensive purposes.”

Beretta introduced the polymer-framed, striker-fired semi-automatic pistol line in 2016 to take part in the U.S. military’s XM17 Modular Handgun System competition. While Beretta had offered to provide its M9A3 pistols at a reduced price, the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) sought to go in another direction with a new procurement. After the U.S. military adopted the Sig Sauer offering, Beretta USA announced the APX availability for the U.S. civilian market.

In 2019, the firearm maker introduced the APX Carry, a single stack magazine variant aimed at the concealed carry market. The APX A1 Carry builds on the reliability and quality the APX family has become known for within the shooting community.

The APX A1 offers a shorter and lighter trigger than its predecessors, while the compact firearm provides enhanced ergonomics. It offers an aggressive front slide serrations enable the end-user to manipulate the slide easily in any weather and lighting conditions.

The red-dot ready slide is also designed to receive a variety of optics plates, one of which will be provided by Beretta free of charge through the warranty registration process online, including Burris, C-more, Shield, and Holosun Series. The compact pistol also was developed with optimization in mind, and is built on modular chassis that allows for customization, such as the attachment of optics and the switching of the grip frame housing for one of our three available grip frame colors: Flat Dark Earth (FDE), OD Green, and Wolf Grey.

The pistol’s wide, flat trigger design with a clean, crisp break and short tactile reset allows consistent engagement and fast, repeatable shot placement. Designed to be easily concealed with its single-stack, sub-compact, and thin grip design the Beretta APX A1 Carry is practically invisible, no matter the clothes you wear or whether you carry inside or outside the waistband.

The Beretta APX A1 Carry is now available at select retailers for an MSRP of $449.
