Republicans want Hunter Biden indicted and they want him locked up this minute, but they are not getting their way.
The president’s son is being investigated for alleged federal tax improprieties and lying on a federal gun ownership form. GOP lawmakers may not get the outcome they want with the Hunter probe, according to a new whistleblower with knowledge of the investigation. The whistleblower, who works for the Internal Revenue Service, said that the Biden administration is dropping the ball on the tax investigation into Hunter. This watchdog accuses the IRS of having “clear conflicts of interest.”
Oversight Chair Is Ready to Pounce
Congressman James Comer, who is chair of the House Oversight Committee, has been doing a thorough investigation of Hunter’s business practices. He believes the whistleblower shows that the Biden administration is blocking the probe into Hunter’s alleged misdeeds.
“It’s deeply concerning that the Biden Administration may be obstructing justice by blocking efforts to charge Hunter Biden for tax violations,” Comer told Fox News on April 19.
It’s Not Just Hunter Biden Who Is Corrupt, Comer Said
Comer also said, “deceptive, shady business schemes” have resulted in the Biden family making “millions from foreign adversaries like China.”
CBS News obtained a letter from the whistleblower’s attorney. The lawyer’s client is an unnamed criminal supervisory special agent for the IRS. The person is requesting whistleblower protection because he believes the Hunter Biden tax investigation is being delayed by “preferential treatment and politics,” the letter said.
Attorney Mark Lytle stated his client is ready to come forward and answer questions from congressional members.
No Obstruction Here, According to Prosecutor
Officials in the Department of Justice and the Trump-appointed U.S. attorney looking into the Hunter Biden case believe that they are acting without any political interference from the White House.
However, Lytle told CBS News in an interview that the whistleblower believes the investigation is being handled differently than what he has seen in his career.
“Political considerations were having an impact on the decision for agents to make investigative steps in the case. And those political considerations are not normally a part of a career investigator’s toolkit,” Lytle said.
There Are Records to Back Up the Whistleblower
The whistleblower reportedly has documentation to support his claims such as emails and other records. He has been working for the IRS for over ten years. But he wants protection from Congress before he goes public with his accusations.
Hunter Biden’s attorneys have admitted he is under a federal investigation into his taxes and is “cooperating completely.” The younger Biden believes he has paid all the money he owes the government, citing help from a lawyer named Kevin Morris, who has paid Hunter’s tab in a likely loan arrangement. Hunter has said, he will be cleared of any wrongdoing.
Comer’s committee is probably licking at its chops to bring the whistleblower in front of the committee and will cite the legal code that will protect him from retaliation. Republican lawmakers have been circling above Hunter’s business practices more intensely since they now control Congress. Democrats have denied that Hunter has done anything illegal or improper, even though Comer and his staff have found Suspicious Activity Reports that show questionable bank transfers to Hunter and other Biden family members.
So, the plot is thickening for Hunter and the whistleblower may shine more light on his potentially illegal activities with his taxes. This will put additional pressure on the DOJ and the U.S. Attorney in Delaware to examine what exact laws that Hunter allegedly broke. Republicans in Congress, if they get their way, are likely to say, “We told you so.”
