Donald Trump appears to snub Marjorie Taylor Greene as he arrives in her home state of Georgia: The former president, after his plane landed in Georgia, walked directly by Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA), who has been one of his staunchest supporters.
Donald Trump and Marjorie Taylor Greene: Now Fighting?
Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) has been a steadfast supporter of Donald Trump for as long as she has been a national political figure.
She has defended him, spoke on the phone with him during the endgame of Kevin McCarthy’s push to become House Speaker, and has spent much of the current Congress attempting to impeach Trump’s successor Joe Biden and numerous members of his cabinet.
And Greene has expressed interest in joining Trump’s ticket as vice president in 2024.
But when Trump, hours after the unsealing of federal indictment, landed his plane in Greene’s home state of Georgia over the weekend, he appeared to snub his big supporter.
According to a video posted by The Independent, Greene could be seen on an airport tarmac, as Trump ascended the steps of his jet. But rather than greet Greene, Trump walked in the opposite direction. It’s not clear whether Trump saw the Congresswoman on the tarmac or not.
However, that doesn’t mean that the former president and the Congresswoman have broken with one another. Even after the “snub,” Trump did acknowledge Greene during his subsequent speech in Georgia, praising her as a “warrior” and “beautiful” and inviting her up on stage.
“I want to let you all know, this is something that you know and I know, President Trump is beating Joe Biden poll after poll after poll,” Greene said on stage, per Newsweek. “He is up seven points today and if he were to run against Kamala Harris he is up 11 points, which is funny.”
Greene’s characterization of the current state of the presidential polling is not accurate. Trump was leading by 7 according to one Harvard-Harris poll, but that was nearly a month ago, not “today,” and more recent polls have shown Biden in the lead. Trump does lead the RealClearPolitics average of the polls, but only by 1.8 percent. The poll showing Trump leading Harris by 11 in a hypothetical matchup dates back to March.
The Congresswoman, in an interview with Laura Ingraham shortly after Trump’s indictment, declared that “I have to tell you, Laura, I feel like we are winning” and “We won some today when everyone feels like we are losing, especially with this indictment of President Trump and this document hoax.”
MAGA Hates Marjorie Taylor Greene?
While Greene appears to remain in Trump’s good graces, some parts of the MAGA community have tired of the Congresswoman’s act.
Those opposed to the election of McCarthy as the speaker, and especially to the debt ceiling deal that the speaker agreed to with President Biden, have ripped Greene for her alliance with McCarthy and her vote for that deal.
Steve Bannon, the former Trump adviser, has called for Greene to be primaried in the next election cycle, while pro-Trump influencer Laura Loomer has been feuding with Greene as well.
“Let me repeat that. All of them, including people we’re quite fond of and some who we used to be fond of, have to be primaried,” Bannon said of the 149 House Republicans who voted for the debt ceiling deal, in what was widely interpreted as a shot at Greene.
Greene responded to that threat.
“Steve [Bannon], [Laura] Loomer, and any other POS attacking me will not beat me … Because of that people have been reaching out to me because they don’t like what Steve is doing to me … ’m at a place in my life where removing toxic and bad people out of my life makes me very happy … Steve and I aren’t getting back together … and If he keeps it up I’ll take the house and kids. I hope you send it to Steve. Because I’m done,” Greene wrote in recent texts to colleague Rep. Matt Gaetz that were published by the Daily Beast.
