Noted legal scholar and George Washington University law professor, Jonathan Turley, believes that “The Biden Family are beginning to make the Medicis look like small-time operators.”
For the record, the Medici Family was an Italian banking family that used its vast wealth in 15th century Italy to become the most powerful family politically in all of Florence, the most advanced city in Renaissance Italy. As per their station in 15th century Florence, the Medicis were the leaders of a caste of people and families who were, for all intents and purposes, untouchable.
Similarly, the Biden Family appears to be taking a role similar to that of the Medicis in America’s increasingly corrupt political and economic caste system.
Of course, the Medicis were a far classier and enlightened bunch than the cocaine-sniffing, influence-peddling, hooker-paying Biden Syndicate appears to be.
Nevertheless, Turley’s comparison is apt.
President Joe Biden is the Michael Jordan of “alleged” corruption. In my view, he’s clearly used his position and power to influence the “Justice” system to better protect his wayward son, Hunter, and to insulate the rest of the Biden Family from true justice is another indicator of just how skilled at corrupt machinations the forty-sixth president is.
And just for the record: I lived in Chicago for many years—even worked in local politics there briefly—I know corruption when I see it. Biden could give us a masterclass on the subject.
Of course, the Bidens have been able to get away with their alleged crimes, just as the Clintons were able to do, because they have a “D” next to their name as opposed to an “R”.
The Trump Family couldn’t sneeze without the Democratic Party leading the entire Administrative State in a war of total annihilation against the Trump Family’s real and imagined (mostly imagined) crimes.
The level of Biden Family alleged (I am trying to be nice and give the benefit of the doubt but it isn’t easy) corruption—notably involving Hunter—is almost comical. The Medicis were far smoother in their operations centuries ago in Florence.
But that’s because back then there was a code among criminals that, sadly, no longer exists today. No, in modern America, it’s raw criminality for the sake of pleasure-seeking first.
This was the case with Hunter Biden, who demonstrated a shocking lack of impulse control, especially given the vaunted status he held as the main go-between his father and foreign governments and global corporate leaders looking to influence U.S. policies for their own ends.
Then again, using the known addict, Hunter Biden, as his representative to these different groups might have been a stroke of genius on the part of ole Uncle Joe.
We’ve spent an inordinate amount of time ogling images of Hunter Biden’s private parts, of his naked romps with barely legal high-class hookers, and his seemingly endless array of jilted baby mamas.
Meanwhile, the real action—Joe Biden’s purported crimes—remain conveniently ignored and covered up by the media’s obsession with Hunter Biden’s private parts pics.
In that way, then, Joe Biden’s use of his son for these wanton, alleged influence-peddling schemes seems to be a stroke of genius.
As Turley explained to the New York Post, “The fact that it took over five years to even secure a plea on a couple of small misdemeanors is a testament to a family that has leveraged Joe Biden public positions into a fortune of influence peddling.”
Turley goes on to describe all the ways that Hunter and the rest of the Biden Family have managed to avoid punishments for their various violations of the law, from drug possession to drunk driving.
All because the patriarch of the family, Joe Biden, was a highly influential member of America’s vaunted political elite. This is a family used to getting away with whatever it wants.
It isn’t only confined to small misdemeanors. It’s across-the-board, including purportedly illicit influence-peddling schemes to enrich themselves—at the expense of US national security.
For years, commentators have complained that America was moving from a representative democracy (a republic) to an oligarchy. Many of us have tried to deny that and have looked for evidence supporting our denials.
Sadly, it appears increasingly true that the United States, if it isn’t a full-blown oligarchy where the rich and powerful can abuse their positions and ordinary Americans, then we are edging dangerously near such a system.
Just look at the double-standard displayed in the treatment that former President Donald J. Trump receives from the authorities compared to the treatment that the Biden Family enjoys.
I fully concede that, especially in the case of Trump’s alleged mishandling of classified documents, the forty-fifth president likely violated laws governing the use and disclosure of classified documents.
At the same time, though, President Biden stands accused of the same crime.
Yet, all reports indicate that the Department of Justice is slow-walking that investigation into Biden’s alleged mishandling of classified documents (in much the same way that IRS whistleblowers accuse the DOJ of slow-walking their investigations into Hunter Biden’s tax evasion scandal) whereas they are fast-tracking their case against Trump (his first trial date is in August).
If only Trump had kept that “D” next to his name as opposed to making it an “R”, how different things for him might have been.
Yes, Mr. Turley is correct: the Biden Family is the modern-day Medici Family (only without the panache). Unlike 15th century Florence, though, modern America is not a flourishing hub of Renaissance thinking. It is a kleptocratic, declining great state with a shockingly overt corrupt and craven political class leading us to our collapse. The way our so-called “justice” system has been converted into a shield for the brazenly corrupt Biden Family and weaponized by that family and their political party to destroy the Biden enemies, such as the Trump Family, is more proof of this sad fact.
It is also further proof of just how important the next election is. Should we as a nation get this one wrong in 2024, there will be no going back.
