Donald Trump vows a “real” special prosecutor will go after Biden: While claiming weaponization of government that led to his indictment, Trump continues to vow to lock up his enemies

Donald Trump Is Plotting His Revenge

For as long as he has been a political figure, Donald Trump has claimed that any efforts to investigate him are self-evidently a witch hunt and unfair, while at the same time calling to lock up his political enemies. That started with the ubiquitous “lock her up” chants at Trump’s rallies in 2016, or his explicit promises in the past to jail Hillary Clinton.

That continued this week when, days after he was indicted by a grand jury in Florida, Trump implied that if he becomes president again, he will attempt to jail President Biden and several of his family members.

The threat came in a Truth Social post on Monday, delivered as they often are in all caps.

“NOW THAT THE ‘SEAL’ IS BROKEN, IN ADDITION TO CLOSING THE BORDER & REMOVING ALL OF THE ‘CRIMINAL’ ELEMENTS THAT HAVE ILLEGALLY INVADED OUR COUNTRY, MAKING AMERICA ENERGY INDEPENDENT, & EVEN DOMINANT AGAIN, & IMMEDIATELY ENDING THE WAR BETWEEN RUSSIA & UKRAINE,” Trump said, “I WILL APPOINT A REAL SPECIAL ‘PROSECUTOR’ TO GO AFTER THE MOST CORRUPT PRESIDENT IN THE HISTORY OF THE USA, JOE BIDEN, THE ENTIRE BIDEN CRIME FAMILY, & ALL OTHERS INVOLVED WITH THE DESTRUCTION OF OUR ELECTIONS, BORDERS, & COUNTRY ITSELF!”

There is, of course, already a special counsel looking into Biden’s own handling of classified documents, and a separate U.S. attorney’s investigation into his son Hunter’s tax issues. It’s not clear how a “real” special prosecutor would differ from that, but at any rate, Trump is promising the very same “weaponization” of government that he claims is being used against him.

Trump, when president, did not jail his major political opponents. Why didn’t he? Most likely because there was no chargeable case to make against Barack Obama, Hillary Clinton, or any Biden. Sure, Trump employed a great deal of rhetoric against all of those people and commissioned an investigation into the “origins” of the Russia investigation. But none of the leading Democrats were ever charged with anything. At the same time, Special Counsel John Durham’s years-long investigation led only to a couple of failed prosecutions of low-level officials.

John Kelly, Trump’s former chief of staff, alleged at one point that Trump had pushed for the IRS to investigate his political enemies, including James Comey and Andrew McCabe, and had asked for Attorney General Bill Barr to appoint a special counsel for an investigation of Biden’s family.

At any rate, those comments show that Trump will be running in 2024 on a promise to, at least, push for the prosecution of President Biden.

Even as his once and possibly future opponent threatens to prosecute him, President Biden has not weighed in on the charges against Trump.

Matt Walsh, a conservative author, urged Trump to follow through

“Mutually assured destruction is the only way forward now,” Walsh said on Twitter. “Republicans need to win in 2024 and then immediately indict Biden, his junky son, Hillary, all of them. I have no faith that they will actually do this, but it must be done.”

Trump is scheduled to surrender to authorities and appear in court on Tuesday at the federal courthouse in Miami. Protests are expected outside the venue.

“Make no mistake about it, we’re taking this event extremely seriously, and there’s a potential for things to take a turn for the worse,” Miami Police Chief Manuel Morales told the Miami Herald.

“We’re bringing enough resources to handle crowds, anywhere from 5,000 to 50,000… we don’t expect any issues. We’re ready. Ready for it to be over and done,” he added.

“In there you’re going to have City of Miami, probably the chief himself, you’re going to have Miami-Dade county, Secret Service, FBI, the marshals. They’ll all be there to make sure there’s a unified command,” retired Miami police chief Jorge Colina told CBS
