Kristi Noem: Donald Trump’s Best Choice for Vice President – South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem could be the best choice for former President Donald Trump and might be on his rumored shortlist of potential running mates.

The former president reportedly wants a woman as his next running mate, one who will not outshine him.

Noem has a proven track record of effectiveness as South Dakota governor. She could help burnish Trump’s libertarian credentials because she resisted shutting down her state during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Unlike some of the other women on the list such as Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene and former Arizona gubernatorial candidate Kari Lake, Noem does not scream crazy to voters in the middle.

Others have mentioned Noem as a possible vice presidential nominee for the GOP.

“The Kristi Noem I served with was conservative, dedicated to truth, and I at the time would have thought would have put her country above her political career at any moment,” Adam Kinzinger, a Trump opponent, said. “It is clear … she is running for president or vice president.”

Kristi Noem Passes Trump’s Loyalty Test

Loyalty is the number one thing Trump demands from those who serve him. Noem has shown herself to be a loyal defender of the former president. She has committed to supporting Trump’s candidacy.

She came to his aid over his handling of January 6, calling it a “horrific day.”

“I think that there’s aspects of that day that all of us should use to examine ourselves. And I know that President Trump has as well,” Noem said about January 6.

Noem also defended Trump following the publication of the Durham Report.

“The release of the Durham Report confirmed what we knew all along: The Crossfire Hurricane Russian ‘collusion’ investigation was a complete and total fraudulent witch hunt against President Trump,” Noem wrote on Twitter.

Noem Helps Trump With Culture Warriors

Trump enjoys solid support from religious conservatives despite his own lukewarm religious practices, and Noem could help him to shore up that demographic.

Noem has taken the forefront in taking on Target over its display of pro-LGBT items for Pride month. Religious conservatives have seized on the boycott costing the discount retailer over $13 billion in revenue.

Target has also supported causes that many Americans likely find offensive.

The Target Foundation funded a group called the NDN Collective in 2022 that published a graphic claiming that Mount Rushmore was stolen land belonging to Native Americans.

“That store is fundamentally tearing down this country and we have to have real conversations about how serious we are about protecting our freedom,” Noem told Fox News.

“This is a very extreme organization that is raising these dollars from non-profits such as Target and going forward and buying land, and using it to infiltrate America and its values system. It’s dangerous,” Noem said.

Many conservatives would argue that Noem is the sort of fighter and person with an establish competent track record that Trump needs. She also will not overshadow him.
