Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY), or AOC, who thinks that anyone who disagrees with her is simply doing so because they want to date her, wants Congress to reopen an investigation from 2012 into Ivanka and Donald Trump, Jr., that was dropped by then-Manhattan DA Cyrus Vance, Jr.
According to AOC, the case was only dropped after Donald Trump gave a campaign donation to Vance.
A Parade of Horribles
First, if AOC is upset with how her city is corrupt then perhaps she should spend more time pursuing the abject corruption of the Democratic Party rather than the perceived corruption of her political opponents.
After all, New York City has been a Democratic Party bastion for decades.
Besides, back in 2012, the Trump Family were stalwart Democratic Party supporters—both in terms of policy and campaign donations—and the elected Democrats of New York City were only more than happy to cover for the Trumps when they were on the same team.
Second, not that this little bit of information matters, but the Democrats have spent the last several weeks defending Hunter Biden’s recent plea deal over charges that he evaded taxes and illegally possessed a firearm. Democrats have argued that Hunter Biden, like all Americans, is allowed to make plea deals to stay out of prison.
What’s more, the Democrats insist that there’s nothing suspicious about the Department of Justice—that is nominally led by Hunter’s father—offering the First Son a sweetheart plea deal that almost no other American accused of the same crimes that Hunter was would have been given. It is within the rights of the DOJ to offer plea deals.
Alas, these standards only work for Democrats. Not for Republicans. Especially not for the Trumps.
Third, since the case against Ivanka Trump and her brother is from 2012, one would assume that some statute of limitations would preclude another investigation. Since the case was dropped against them, regardless of whatever external factors AOC is alleging influenced the outcome of that case, it should not be resurrected just to satisfy the political bloodlust of Democrats.
But AOC belongs to the same party that gleefully indicted former President Trump on what many refer to as a “Zombie Case” (the Manhattan DA-led investigation into charges that Trump paid hush money to the adult star, Stormy Daniels).
Dredging up long abandoned charges against the Trump children would entirely be in keeping with the way that Democrats operate when it comes to dealing with their political rivals.
Squealing Like Stuck Pigs
The fact of the matter is that the Democrats are panicked about Hunter Biden, despite their ra-ra about how there’s no there-there to the Republican investigation into the First Son’s purported criminality.
There are terabytes’ worth of documentary, circumstantial evidence suggesting that, if investigators keep digging, they will uncover the linkages between Hunter Biden that implicates his father in the allegedly illicit international influence-peddling schemes that the First Son concocted for years.
And the more that AOC and her fellow Democrats squeal like stuck pigs the deeper that the House Republicans probe into the matter, the guiltier they look—and the more desperate the Democrats become to distract the American people from the ongoing investigation into the First Son. So now the Democrats seek to gin up attention to the Trump children.
Even this is a mistake, though.
Not a Comparison AOC Should Want to Make
Because, when compared to Hunter Biden, the Trump children are by no means the demons that the Democrats are trying to paint them as.
And whatever schemes that the Trump kids—notably Ivanka Trump and her husband, Jared Kushner—may have hatched while Donald Trump was the president, they pale in comparison to the wild escapades that Hunter is believed to have gotten involved in.
Thus, if the Democrats attempt to contrast the Trump children with Hunter Biden, they’re likely to see that attempt blow up in their faces as the Trump children are far more respectable than the cocaine-and-sex-addicted Hunter Biden is. Personally, I’d love to see a cage match fight for charity between Donald Trump, Jr., and Hunter Biden.
One thing is clear in her remarks, though, AOC went from being a Democratic Party renegade to being little more than a tool of the Democratic Party’s powerbrokers in record time. She isn’t an honest actor. The congresswoman cares little for truth. She only desires power.
Nothing she says is reliable and anything she calls for must be immediately—and vociferously—resisted against.
