Gavin Newsom: The Joe Biden ‘Replacement’

It’s Time for a New Democratic Ticket…as in Gavin Newsom – President Joe Biden is one of the most unpopular people to ever run for reelection.

By Gage Skidmore. Governor Gavin Newsom speaking with attendees at the 2019 California Democratic Party State Convention at the George R. Moscone Convention Center in San Francisco, California.

It’s Time for a New Democratic Ticket…as in Gavin Newsom – President Joe Biden is one of the most unpopular people to ever run for reelection.

Combine the unpopularity with the fact that most Americans have concerns that the forty-sixth president is cognitively compromised, while others are worried that he (and his family) might be compromised by foreign intelligence agencies—notably those belonging to China.

Not to worry, though, he is backed up by a competent and cogent vice-president.

Oh, wait, he’s not?

At least Vice-President Kamala Harris is popular.

Uh-oh. She isn’t.

So, the forty-sixth president is barely keeping it together and his number two comes across as a blithering idiot.

Meanwhile, their likely Republican challenger, former President Donald J. Trump, is actually beating Biden-Harris in a head-to-head matchup by eight points in critical swing states.

For the Democrats, this does not bode well.

There’s been much talk recently (not only from Republicans but from Democrats as well) that Biden needs to either stand aside or be pushed aside. A whisper campaign directed against Biden has begun from within the Democratic Party.

They’re going after him for his possible dementia. While I am no doctor and not qualified to make any such diagnosis, his actions are scary.

The whisper campaign is politely (for now) urging Biden to stand aside for the good of the country and the Democratic Party. There’s suspicion that, if the recently discovered cocaine in the White House did not belong to the wayward First Son, then it might have been planted by those seeking to undermine Biden’s position.

Meanwhile, Biden is being pressed by the Right on the matter of his son, Hunter, and alleged shady international business dealings that he was conducting for years. I hate to use a tired phrase from the Trump years, but the walls really do seem to be closing in around the octogenarian president.

And his vice-president is obviously incapable of assuming the presidency—let alone running a believable campaign for the presidency, should Biden step aside before Election Day.

Democrats are in the unenviable position of either riding the Biden bomb down to target or having to kick both their president and vice-presidential candidates off the ticket.

It’d be historic if that occurred.

And the chaos that would ensue just might ensure that the Democrats lose to whoever is the GOP nominee in 2024, if it were to happen before voting began.

Here Comes Gavin Newsom

Nevertheless, if the Democrats made this shift early—say around Fall of this year—and then placed a more promising candidate, such as California Governor Gavin Newsom, as the top of the ticket then things might be different.

Newsom is everything the Democrats want in a candidate (although he’s a tad too much on the heteronormative side, but that only matters when they’re attacking Republicans).

Of course, even Newsom will have trouble surmounting the historic nature of the Democrats having to sweep aside their current president and vice-president.

Still, Newsom is entirely shameless in his ownership of all Democratic policies—including the party’s obvious failures.

It’s not yet known if the California governor will be able to maneuver himself into the pole position in 2024, displacing both the president and vice-president. If there’s one man who could do it, it’d be the guy who ventured onto Sean Hannity’s show and came out looking good.

Should Newsom manage to finagle his way into being the 2024 Democratic Party presidential candidate, he will be a force to be reckoned with. The Republicans are going to need to bring their A-game.

Right now, it seems like Donald Trump is the likeliest Republican nominee for president. He’s appealing to swing state voters in a recent poll. But that’s against Joe Biden.

How will that change if the Democrats switch out unpopular Biden with articulate and brash Newsom?

It might change significantly—bigly, as Trump might say. The question is whether the Democrats have the backbone to do such a thing or if they’ll ride that bomb straight down to its target, killing themselves along with everyone else in the process?

The 2024 Election is going to be wild.
