President Joe Biden is getting perilously close to impeachment proceedings, according to Kevin McCarthy, Speaker of the House.
Joe Biden and Impeachment
McCarthy (R-Calif.) made the announcement in an interview with Fox News’ Sean Hannity hours after some House Republicans called on him to begin the process to impeach Biden. Earlier in the day, The New York Post revealed a key witness has come forward claiming first son Hunter Biden frequently put his father on the phone with foreign business associates.
“When Biden was running for office, he told the public he has never talked about business. He said his family has never received a dollar from China, which we prove is not true,” McCarthy Hannity on Monday night, referencing Biden’s previous statements that he did not talk to his son, Hunter Biden, about his foreign business activities.
“We now have some of the most credible whistleblowers … these ten-year IRS agents who have come forward said that the Biden family has been treated differently. That what Weiss (as in David Weiss, the US attorney that was responsible for overseeing the probe into the Hunter Biden charges) has told us is different than what Garland and Weiss have told the public.”
McCarthy has not offered specific potential charges or a timeline for such proceedings.
Dems Fire Back
Of course, Democrats fired back, claiming there is “no there, there” and that the House is on a crusade to crush Joe Biden for political purposes.
In a Tweet on Monday afternoon, Iam Sams said, “Instead of focusing on the real issues Americans want us to address like continuing to lower inflation or create jobs, this is what the @HouseGOP wants to prioritize. Their eagerness to go after @POTUS regardless of the truth is seemingly bottomless.”
Welcome to another case of the pot calling the kettle black. What exactly is the DOJ doing with Donald Trump? Is he a “real issue” Americans care about like inflation or jobs?
In typical “nothing to see here” fashion, the Washington Post claimed the investigation has gained “little traction.”
Meanwhile, back at the homestead, Press Secretary Karin Jean Pierre did what she does best when asked about the allegations of Joe Biden’s involvement in his sons business dealings: deflect.
“So, I’ve been asked this question a million times. The answer is not going to change. The answer remains the same. The president was never in business with his son. I just don’t have anything else to add.”
Note of interest: prepositions, like all words, matter no matter how much the left tries to alter definitions and meanings. The fact that Joe Biden was not technically in business with his son does not mean he didn’t know anything about it or benefit from Hunter’s business dealings, as he has repeatedly professed.
Journalist Stephen Miller pointed this out in a tweet, saying: “Being in business with” was not the question. Joe Biden said previously he never even spoke about business with his son. Quite the hedge!”
Us vs. Them
The hypocrisy of Democrats is ripe. They’ve spent close to a decade wasting taxpayer dollars on doing everything in their power to destroy not only Donald Trump’s political career, but his life. Yet, when they get a taste of their own medicine, cry foul.
I’m not suggesting either of the current leading presidential candidates should not be undergoing intense scrutiny, as both are likely guilty of all they’ve been accused of and more.
However, how refreshing would it be to have a president that wasn’t a walking criminal liability?
While I’m sure anyone could dig deep enough to find incriminating evidence against any one of the candidates running right now – after all, that is what campaigns do best – there is a host of alternatives to choose from that wouldn’t continue to waste resources, time and money, on endless investigations and special House Committees. Ron DeSantis, RFK, Jr., Vivek Ramaswamy, and Tim Scott come to mind. Sure, everyone’s got skeletons in the closet, but not everyone has a pile of corpses.
Will sanity ever return to politics, or are we relegated to dreaming of bygone times when all humans — some more than others — were guilty of a little indiscretion, but straight-up crimes and commonplace corruption were considered an anomaly? When a majority of a president’s term wasn’t marred with distractions from a weaponized bureaucracy?
Or are those of us who believe such a time actually existed simply fooled by nostalgia? Perhaps we ignore the cold hard truth — that politics has always been and will always be a game of cops and robbers.
