Has Donald Trump ‘Lost’ Melania Trump?

Former First Lady Melania Trump has been a noticeable absence at her husband’s multiple arraignments. Since April, when former President Donald Trump’s first indictment in Manhattan District Court was handed down, she has kept a low profile.

Former White House Press Secretary and Melania Trump aide Stephanie Grisham told CNN that she does not think it means much.

“I actually don’t make anything of it,” Grisham told CNN’s Situation Room. “That is Melania Trump.”

Grisham continued: “She is saying in her mind, you know, this is his issue, he can deal with it. He doesn’t need me there to prop him up, and I am too busy to go with him,” Grisham said. “That’s who she is. She will show up by his side when she wants to. When she’s perfectly ready.”

The former president told Real America’s Voice that telling Melania that he was being indicted was “always unpleasant.”

“She knows, she knows when he is going to get indicted,” Grisham said.

Grisham and Melania Have a Sour Relationship

Grisham and Melania Trump had a soured relationship after the Jan. 6, 2021 Capitol riot and Grisham’s own resignation, and she wrote a tell-all book.

“It has been an honor to serve the country in the White House. I am very proud to have been a part of Mrs. Trump’s mission to help children everywhere and proud of the many accomplishments of this Administration,” Grisham wrote in her resignation letter.

Grisham has not spoken with the former First Lady since.

Melania Trump Avoids the Limelight

HuffPost notes that Melania Trump often spends her time away from her husband these days. Couri Hay, a New York publicist and acquaintance of Melania Trump, claims that Melania spends her time with her parents and helping her son Barron Trump find a college.

“Melania is a very private person and, let’s be frank, she’s been burnt before by employees and ‘friends’ who have written books about her and betrayed her confidence,” Hay told The Times of London.

Former aide Stephanie Winston Wolkoff, who wrote a book about the former First Lady, noted that no one should think that her absence should be taken as a sign of being at odds with her husband, noting that she was “very much aligned with his thinking”.

“I think Melania Trump was subpoenaed several times in different investigations,” she told The Times of London. “I do believe that . . . there absolutely is going to be evidence that shows that she understood what was going on.”

Melania Trump Supports Efforts to Regain White House

Melania Trump has been open about her support of her husband’s effort to regain the White House.

“My husband achieved tremendous success in his first administration, and he can lead us toward greatness and prosperity once again,” she told Fox News Digital in May. “He has my support, and we look forward to restoring hope for the future and leading America with love and strength.”

She has been focused on her own projects, such as a scholarship program, since leaving office, and has left her husband to his own devices.

“My focus would continue to be creating a safe and nurturing space for children to learn, grow, and thrive,” she said of what she would do if her husband were to win a second term. “If additional problems arise, I will take the time to study them and understand their root causes.”
