A Weakness for Son Who Could Destroy Him in the End – “If Hunter Biden broke the law, he should be prosecuted.” These were the extraordinary words spoken by Representative Jim Hines (D-Connecticut) recently.
Of course, most Americans, when presented with the reams of evidence about Hunter’s alleged misdeeds (he’s already plead guilty to tax evasion) would agree with that obvious statement.
What makes it such an exceptional admission is that it was made by an elected member of the Democratic Party—which until Hines’ comments, has maintained that the accusations against Hunter Biden are, at best baseless, at worst, confined merely to Hunter Biden and do not extend to his father, President Joe Biden.
Hines conceded that the wayward First Son was guilty of having been in illegal possession of a firearm and insisted that he should be punished accordingly.
The eight-term Democratic Party congressman from Connecticut lamented that the Republicans never once conceded former President Donald J. Trump’s guilt—or even potential guilt—during his various legal scraps both during and after his time in office.
Of course, that’s a ridiculous claim, considering the presence of the powerful, elite “Never Trump” faction of the GOP who continue manipulating the highest echelons of the GOP today.
Rep. Hines went further and argued that if the House Republicans currently investigating Hunter Biden can prove that he was engaged in the kind of wholesale corruption that the GOP accuses him of being engaged in, that the First Son should be punished according to the law for those alleged crimes as well.
This is important because Hines is a well-placed member of the House Democratic Party. Moreover, he is from Connecticut, a northeastern blue state that shares a degree of regional fellowship with President Biden’s home state (which he represented in the United States Senate for years) of Delaware.
Joe Biden Should Worry
While Hines is the only prominent elected Democrat who has thus far come out with flirtations about turning against the First Family, I suspect he won’t be the last.
Indeed, Hines might just be the first break in the dam—especially considering that details of the recent testimony of Hunter Biden’s close business associate, Devon Archer, have yet to be revealed to the public in great detail.
Given that mainstream media is doing its level-best to ignore Archer’s recent testimony, and that most members of Congress have some inkling of what Archer revealed in his closed testimony, you can rest assured that Hines likely won’t be the last elected Democrat to break with Biden.
The fact of the matter is that no matter how heavily the scales of justice were tipped in Joe Biden’s favor, his son’s level of purported misdeeds is so extreme that they simply cannot be ignored.
Now, perhaps the House GOP fumbles their ongoing investigation into Hunter Biden. Maybe the Republicans get distracted by the more salacious aspects of the Hunter Biden crime saga (the sex and the drugs, for example). The Right is notorious for dropping the ball at key moments in the political game.
Then again, though, given how important it is for the Republicans to damage the Biden Administration heading into what will be a nasty presidential election in 2024, it is more than likely that the GOP will get their pound of political flesh.
Even the otherwise milquetoast Speaker of the House Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) supports initiating an impeachment inquiry into Joe Biden’s conduct. That alone will move the needle over time in the direction of the GOP.
Republicans Won’t Let Hunter Biden Go
All the Republicans will need in 2024 is to move the electorate slightly away from Biden in key swing states and they will have the election victory they seek.
Already, the leading GOP candidate, former President Donald J. Trump, is leading President Biden in polling coming out of critical swing states.
In 2020, for example, many voters in those swing states who pivoted away from Trump and toward Biden admitted after the election that they’d have likely voted for Trump, had they known the extent of the Hunter Biden scandals (that the media was censoring on behalf of the Biden Campaign).
Joe Biden himself was a terribly weak presidential candidate in 2020 and he is again weak four years later. He could barely beat the multitude of other Democrats running against him in the 2020 primary.
Once he did win, Biden made a bizarre pitch for why recalcitrant Democrats needed to support him against Trump: he was merely a “transition candidate.”
And that has been a key rumor on the web. That Biden won’t, in fact, ultimately be the Democrats’ nominee in 2024. Between concerns over Biden’s possible age-related cognitive decline as well as his potential involvement with Hunter Biden’s allegedly illicit international influence-peddling schemes, President Biden might be unable to compete for a second term after all.
While Donald Trump might be facing his own staggering legal troubles (he also might not be the GOP nominee in 2024, by the way), President Biden is facing serious problems of his own.
The Republicans appear united in their contempt for President Biden and are doggedly pursuing all possible leads that link his bent son to the forty-sixth president’s personal bank account. I suspect it is only a matter of time before some solid connection is found by the relentless GOP investigators.
Reading the Writing on the Wall…
Rep. Hines is a skilled politician. He likely sees the writing on the wall and is making his own calculations based on this information. The Democrats may soon begin breaking away one at a time over the next several months from Biden’s reelection campaign and will seek out a replacement.
Maybe it will be Vice-President Kamala Harris taking the reins. Or perhaps it’ll be someone new, such as California’s Governor Gavin Newsom—this is very appealing to Democrats, if Florida’s Governor Ron DeSantis ends up beating Trump in the GOP Primary.
Stay watching the elected Democrats as we move deeper into the election. They just might surprise you. Should an increasing number of elected Democrats begin voicing similar concerns as to what Hines has been talking about, then, you can bet that Biden is getting ready to be pushed out of the 2024 race.
