Joe Biden Wants to Make Lauren Boebert Pay

President Joe Biden chided Colorado Republican Rep. Lauren Boebert over her opposition to last year’s green jobs legislation, The Inflation Reduction Act.

Biden Goes After Lauren Boebert

The White House claims that the law has resulted in $500 billion in manufacturing and green energy projects since last August.

He noted that a South Korean company called CS Wind would be employing 850 workers at a facility in Pueblo, which he attributed to the legislation due to tax incentives for green energy found in the law.

“Like in Colorado, where CS Wind broke ground on what will be the world’s largest wind tower manufacturing plant. And coincidentally, CS Wind is Congresswoman Lauren Boebert—you know, the very quiet Republican lady—it’s in her district,” Biden said.

He continued by saying that Boebert, “along with every other Republican, voted against this bill, and it’s making all this possible. And she railed against its passage. But, that’s okay. She’s welcoming it now.”

Boebert is a key Democratic target in the 2024 election cycle because she is among the most outspoken on the right flank and is deemed vulnerable. The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee previously attacked Boebert using the same talking point in April.

“Any way you spin it, Lauren Boebert isn’t looking out for Coloradans. By committing herself to her extreme ideology, she is barreling towards an unprecedented, catastrophic default that would tank the economy unless she can gut hundreds of jobs in Colorado. One thing is clear: Colorado won’t forget her reckless behavior and will hold her accountable next November,” DCCC spokesman Tommy Garcia said.

Relying on a South Korean company to achieve the administration’s goals is hardly the buy American project that the president thinks it is, because it benefits the South Korean economy.

Biden Previously Targeted Marjorie Taylor-Greene

The president targeted Boebert’s rival Georgia Rep. Marjorie Taylor-Greene earlier this year over her opposition to another South Korean manufacturer opening a plant in Georgia.

“Since I took office, we’ve seen over 60 domestic manufacturing announcements all across the solar supply chain. One of the biggest is in Dalton, Georgia. You may find it hard to believe, but that’s Marjorie Taylor Greene’s district,” Biden said. “I’ll be there for the groundbreaking.”

Biden was referring to Hanwha Qcells, a $2.5 billion solar manufacturing facility that was set to open in her district and projected to produce 2,500 jobs.

“I’m not here to declare victory on the economy,” Biden said. “I’m here to say we have a plan that’s turning things around quickly.”

Biden Attacks Alabama Senator

Biden also attacked Alabama Republican Sen. Tommy Tuberville for voting against federal spending on broadband Internet access even though he had praised it.

“I thought, wait a minute, didn’t he rail against that for a long, long time?” Biden said. “I was inclined to go down and help him celebrate, but I decided not to.”

Tuberville has been a recent foil for the president, particularly due to his opposition to the Biden administration’s controversial diversity policies in the military.

“The Republican Party used to always support the military, but today, they are undermining the military. The senior senator from Alabama, who claims to support our troops, is now blocking more than 300 military [nominations] with his extreme political agenda,” Biden said last month.
