Colorado Republican Rep. Lauren Boebert’s feud with fellow populist Georgia Republican Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene has made headlines in recent weeks. The two women feuded over who had the best bill to impeach Joe Biden.

However, her stridency has not made her friends in her Western Colorado district, where the Cook Political Report lists her in a tossup rematch race with Aspen City Councilman Adam Frisch. Boebert beat him in last year’s midterm race by a mere 546 votes. Last month, the Cook Political Report had Boebert’s seat listed as “Likely Republican.”

This year, Frisch has taken in an impressive $2.6 million. By contrast, the incumbent has only raised $818,000. During the first quarter of this year, Frisch raised $1.7 million compared with $764,000 for Boebert.

Democrats See Lauren Boebert as Beatable

The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC) views Lauren Boebert as vulnerable and has put her district in its crosshairs for 2024.

“Lauren Boebert is more obsessed with catching headlines and being the token MAGA extremist than actually working for everyday Coloradans,” DCCC Tommy Garcia spokesman said in an email. “Between her dangerous conspiracies and outright racist bigotry, CO-03 voters can see that Lauren Boebert is an unserious member of Congress, unwilling to go to bat for them on issues facing Colorado. Her time in Congress is ticking down.”

Cook Political Report editor David Wasserman noted that Boebert’s vote to hold up defense appropriations over abortion could give Frisch a wedge issue to campaign on.

He also notes that Republicans are “likely to invest heavily to redefine the self-styled moderate as a limousine liberal out of step with the Western Slope.”

Frisch’s strategy has been to cast Boebert as out of step with her constituents for putting herself first.

“Our governing system requires we have leaders and representatives who put their constituents, their district, and their country first. Lauren Boebert is not this representative,” Frisch tweeted late last month.

Occupy Democrats voiced its support for Frisch.

“Demonstrating that he recognizes exactly the kind of MAGA psycho he’s facing, Frisch correctly stated that Boebert regularly votes ‘against the interests of her constituents’ and wastes her time on ‘angertainment antics’ that do nothing to help the district,” Occupy Democrats tweeted. “Frisch can do this. Sanity can win. The days of MAGA are numbered.”

Frisch Hits Boebert on Medicare

He hit Boebert over her stand on Medicare, accusing her of wanting to cut it.

“Last year, in order to see her name in headlines, Lauren Boebert supported a budget to gut Medicare. But she miscalculated. This is unpopular with hard-working folks in #CO03 because it does nothing to help lower healthcare costs or protect our seniors. In 2021, 169,333 people in #CO03, or about 22% of the population, were eligible for Medicare. That’s the highest number of any congressional district in Colorado,” Frisch tweeted Monday.

Grand Junction Mayor Running For Dem Nomination

Grand Junction, Colo. Mayor Anna Stout declared her intention to challenge Frisch for the Democratic nomination last month.

“Lauren Boebert has proven time and time again she is only interested in leading the most extremist faction of her party, holding our government hostage, and imposing her own extremist agenda while gaslighting constituents about our rights and freedoms — all in the interest of building her own personal brand. We deserve better,” Stout said in a statement when she declared her candidacy.
