In an intriguing turn of events, Stacey Abrams, who had previously faced setbacks in her bid for the Georgia gubernatorial seat, seems to have embarked on a new professional venture. This development involves her engagement in providing strategic consultation for the political initiatives backed by George Soros

The Democracy PAC, an entity exclusively financed by Soros and known for its substantial contributions to the political landscape, made a transfer of $30,000 to Sage Works LLC during the month of May.

This financial transaction was revealed in the mid-year report of Soros’ committee. The primary purpose of this fund movement was to secure the expertise of Sage Works LLC for strategic consultation services.

Abrams is the proprietor of Sage Works, a firm headquartered in Atlanta. Her connection to the company goes beyond ownership, as she also holds the position of Chief Executive Officer, as outlined in her financial disclosure statement. This enterprise was incorporated back in September 2002, and her role as its registered agent has endured over time, according to official Georgia state records.

The specific nature of Abrams’ contributions to Soros and his committee’s undertakings remains shrouded in ambiguity. Despite attempts to seek insight from Soros’ spokesperson, no response had been received at the time of this article’s publication.

While this instance represents the maiden instance of a Soros-affiliated committee disbursing funds to Abrams’ enterprise at the federal level, it is not the first time that financial transactions between the two have taken place. Years earlier, Soros had directed financial support towards Abrams’ company via a Georgia-based committee.

This funding was aligned with Soros’ initiatives to influence district attorney races as part of his broader efforts.

Notably, Sage Works received a payment of $15,000 for strategic consultation services from the Georgia Safety & Justice PAC in October 2016. This committee, entirely financed by a substantial sum of $147,000 from Soros, was a key player in supporting Henry County District Attorney Darius Pattillo’s ascent to office. The consultation payments played a pivotal role in facilitating this endeavor.

The timeline of this prior payment coincides with the inception of Soros’ endeavors to impact district attorney races across the nation. Soros’ strategic focus on district attorneys stems from his recognition of their influential role in determining which criminal charges are pursued and which are not, a dynamic he perceives as critical to reshaping the criminal justice system.

Soros, who has been described as a “Democrat mega-donor”, also funneled $1 million into Abrams’ leadership political action committee in March 2022. This came just weeks before a judge ruled that the then gubernatorial candidate must cease using those donations until after Georgia’s 24 May primary election.

Following her second electoral defeat last November, Abrams has taken on a new role as General Counsel for the environmental advocacy group Rewiring America. In this capacity, Abrams has been entrusted with launching and expanding a “national awareness campaign and a network of large and small communities working to help Americans transition to electric alternatives,” as detailed by the organization’s representatives

Who is Stacey Abrams?

Stacey Abrams’ most notable political endeavor was her bid for the Georgia gubernatorial election in 2018. She ran as the Democratic candidate against Republican Brian Kemp. The election garnered significant attention due to allegations of voter suppression and controversy over the handling of the election by Kemp, who was Georgia’s Secretary of State at the time. Abrams narrowly lost the election, but her campaign and subsequent advocacy work drew attention to voting rights and election fairness issues.

Abrams did not formally concede the 2018 election and referred to herself as the “lawful victor.” While candidates have the right to challenge election results through legal means, her refusal to concede  despite the certified election results garnered controversy.

During her second failed gubernatorial bid last year she said it was “wrong” to compare her with Donald Trump as her complaints were regarding “access” to the ballot box rather than “fraudulent outcomes”.

She ran again in 2022 and lost once more.

Who is George Soros?

George Soros, on the other hand, is a Hungarian-American billionaire investor, philanthropist, and political activist. He is known for his extensive support of various liberal and progressive causes, including human rights, democracy, and social justice initiatives around the world. Soros is also often a target of conservative criticism for his political involvement and funding of liberal organizations and campaigns.
