The Southern Border Is Wide Open and Joe Biden Doesn’t Care

To be clear: the United States has effectively lost its southern border. Since Joe Biden’s rise to the presidency in 2020, there has been an explosion in illegal crossings.

The Republicans and Democrats in Washington, D.C., are imploding. The leadership of both parties are proving themselves to be entirely incompetent. In the case of the Republicans, their incompetence is appearing in the form of a massive, multi-sided civil war, causing chaos in the political realm. For Democrats, the implosion is much more damaging to the country.

They’ve elected a president who is likely in serious age-related cognitive decline. Meanwhile, they are presiding over the diminution of American power, wealth, and prestige globally.

Notably, in the area of immigration policy, the Democrats have done untold amounts of damage to the country—and their election prospects in 2024. To be clear: the United States has effectively lost its southern border. Since Joe Biden’s rise to the presidency in 2020, there has been an explosion in illegal crossings.

An ‘Invasion’ Along the Southern Border

Waves—and that’s the correct word here—of people, not just Hispanics but foreigners from around the world have inundated the southwestern border. Meanwhile, the Biden Administration has refused to give the Customs and Border Patrol (CBP) the authority they need to roll back the human wave from Latin America.

At the same time, the Democratic Party on Capitol Hill resists every attempt to pass legislation designed to enhance America’s border protections. It’s interesting because back in the 1990s, it was the Democratic Party that opposed illegal immigration. They rightly saw it as a threat to American workers—specifically, African-Americans. Many of those elected Democrats who were in Congress back in the 1990s, are now in positions of power in the DNC today.

They have completely reversed their original stance on the matter.

Many critics of the DNC believe that it is little more than a cynical ploy to fundamentally change the country’s demographics, because Latinos are mostly Democratic Party voters. The critics of the DNC believe that, by changing the demographics of the United States, the Democrats are ensuring they are the permanent majority.

It certainly makes sense.

Why else would the Democrats be so interested in ignoring the border security of the United States?

And just look at the way the Democrats start screaming whenever red States, tired of the seemingly endless flow of illegal immigrants into their overwhelmed states, start sending busloads of illegal immigrants to blue States and cities.

If illegal immigration was so star-spangled amazing, then why did the  elite in Martha’s Vineyard have a proverbial meltdown when a couple of busloads of illegal immigrants were sent to them by the State of Florida?

Why, after only a few months of experiencing their influx of illegal immigrants from the border states, did the City of New York basically declare an emergency—with Democratic Party officials and the people of New York demanding that “something be done” to end the flow of illegal immigrants to New York City?

Imagine how the people living in those border states, subjected to wave upon wave of illegal immigrant crossings for years, must feel? Democrats cannot take it for more than a few months before they start demanding reversals.

Democrats Hoisted By Their Own Ideological Issues

Clearly, whatever long-term benefits Democrats believe that unfettered illegal immigration will give them are starting to harm the short-term prospects of Democratic Party success. After all, overwhelming numbers of voters—not just Republicans, but Democrats and independents alike—oppose the obviously failed Biden border policies.

Yet, the Democrats are hoisted by their own ideological disaster. They made a Faustian bargain by becoming the unabashed party of illegal immigration. Democratic Party candidates are largely supported by a coalition of engaged minorities.

Of which, the Latino community is one. The politically engaged leaders of the Latino community are overwhelmingly pro-illegal immigration. For the Democrats to have candidates for office challenging these open borders policies would be highly detrimental to the party.

For now, President Joe Biden and his party are tied up in knots of their own making. In order to win in 2024, they need to be seen as addressing the border crisis. To address the border crisis, though, Democrats risk their long-term project of remaking America demographically as well as alienating diehard Democratic Party backers in the Latino community.

We All Suffer for the Ignorance of Washington

So, the Biden Administration kvetches about Republican intransigence (which is laughable, because the one thing Republicans want to do is effectively secure the border) while offering nothing substantive in the way of enforcement, lest they destroy their long-term plans for demographically re-engineering the country and alienating key Latino support.

Meanwhile, we, the people, suffer.

The real question, though, is what will voters do in 2024? Because it’s not a straight line to victory on this matter for the Republican Party. Not after the shambolic display of removing Speaker of the House Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) from power or from the overall civil war in the GOP between the “MAGA” wing and the rest of the party. Yet again, in all this, the American people suffer.
