Lauren Boebert Just Doesn’t Give a Damn

Conservative Bomb Thrower Lauren Boebert in Trouble with One Voter – Lauren Boebert is one curious and contentious politician. Short in stature, but not short on brashness, she just barely won her re-election to the U.S. House of Representatives after enduring a re-count. That should have sent her a message to moderate her views and policies. Now she is in hot water with at least one constituent who is questioning her lack of class and professionalism.

She Clearly Doesn’t Care About Ukraine

The latest scandal Boebert faces has to do with Ukraine and the country’s president Volodymyr Zelenskyy. It seems that this voter is up in arms about Boebert’s lack of respect for the Ukrainian leader who gave a stirring speech to Congress earlier this month.

A Constituent Has Declared War on Boebert

The angry citizen, who is named Carol Cure, has had it with the Colorado Republican. Cure wrote a letter to a local newspaper that skewered Boebert. It seems that Cure is mad that Boebert has “apparently learned absolutely nothing” from her near loss. About half of Boebert’s constituents preferred her opponent, Democrat Adam Frisch. Cure is a symbol of their displeasure with the Conservative firebrand.

Letter Says Boebert Is ‘Embarrassing’

Cure’s missive accused Boebert of embarrassing herself. Cure said Boebert did not stand or applaud during Zelenskyy’s speech, and she was seen concentrating on her phone the entire time he spoke.

Cure wrote, “It’s clear that Boebert does not understand the importance of defending democracy in our world and does not care about the wishes of her constituents. She is clearly on the wrong side of history. Will she never learn?”

Many Republicans Skipped the Speech

At least Boebert went to the speech. Only 86 out 213 House Republicans decided to go. A nasty letter printed in the newspaper will not likely hurt Boebert in the long run, but it shows that some of her constituents are fed up with her antics.

Controversy Thy Name Is Lauren Boebert

This is not the first controversy Lauren Boebert has been embroiled in.

Boebert made a video in 2021 that referred to U.S. Rep. Ilhan Omar as a member of the “jihad squad.” Omar is Muslim. They both demanded apologies during the dust-up with some accusing Boebert of engaging in Islamophobic rhetoric.

Pistol Packing Mama

Boebert often openly carries a pistol, which is her right, but it rankles some in her district who are less enamored with firearms.

She does, after all, live in Rifle, Colorado, and has made support for the Second Amendment a part of her ethos.

Heckles from the Peanut Gallery

Boebert is known for heckling speech givers, interrupting Beto O’Rourke in a viral video in 2019 that showed she could be a political force by throwing Conservative bombs. She also heckled President Joe Biden during his State of the Union speech in 2021 when he mentioned Afghanistan. Boebert was booed by some colleagues and critics, who used the interruption as an example of Boebert’s disrespect for decorum and lack of professionalism.

MAGA Through and Through

The Colorado Republican is an ardent Trump supporter who voted to overturn the 2020 election results. She often goads Democrats with heated rhetoric hoping to make an appearance on Conservative news.

The last incident with Zelenskyy may endear her to MAGA Republicans in her district and across the nation, but it will do little to attract the Independents at home she needs to remain in the House. Boebert faces re-election again in 2024 and her idol Trump may or may not be on the ballot.

Democrats View Her as Beatable

Her political opponents in Colorado realize that Lauren Boebert is vulnerable, and she will likely meet an avalanche of Democrat fund-raising to send her into early retirement.

Unlikely Feud Between Best Friends

I mentioned Boebert is curious. An example of this is her current inexplicable feud with former friend and ally Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene from Georgia. They disagree on who should be Speaker of the House. Then Boebert took the rift a step further. She gave a speech in which she accused Greene, who is a supporter of Kevin McCarthy for Speaker, of believing in “Jewish Space Lasers.” Greene replied that Boebert was reverting to “high school drama.”

These two, judging from their past alliance, should always be mutually supportive of each other. So, Boebert is running out of friends on Capitol Hill and making people mad back home. This is not a winning formula in a district that she almost lost in 2022.

If she doesn’t change course, she may be out of a job in 2024.
