Hunter Biden stands accused of tax evasion and falsifying a gun purchase form. The Department of Justice (DOJ) investigation into these charges is finally coming an end. The pace of the investigation has frustrated many observers familiar with DOJ procedures.
Usually, tax evasion and falsifying gun purchase forms are relatively cut-and-dry affairs. Yet, it has taken the DOJ a whopping four years to push forward their investigation—making many critics of the Biden Family suspicious that the odd delay was done for political purposes.
Hunter Biden and his lawyers argue that this is a nothingburger case. Especially because Hunter paid back the taxes that he owed (courtesy of money fronted to him by a well-known Hollywood attorney named Kevin Morris).
As for the gun purchase form forgery, Hunter’s lawyers want the DOJ to take a “live-and-let-live” approach to the law. A law that has been used to deprive the freedom of other American citizens who are not as politically connected as the First Son is.
Hypocrisy and Hunter Biden
Nevertheless, Hunter’s lawyers are meeting with Federal Prosecutor David Weiss of Delaware to make one last pitch for why their client should not be charged with any crime. Most experts believe this is the final time before the government will decide whether to throw the book at the First Son.
Of course, if Hunter Biden were named Hunter Smith (or worse, Hunter Trump), the investigation would have lobbed charges his way years ago.
Since he is a Biden, though, it is obvious that DOJ is slow walking the investigation. This entire ordeal smacks of a double-standard and reinforces the unfortunate narrative that the United States is the land of a two-tiered justice system.
The claims of impropriety in the Hunter Biden investigation are further backstopped by an IRS agent who is now seeking whistleblower protections after claiming that the tax investigation into Hunter Biden was being “mishandled.”
But the Biden Family is the most corrupt element of America’s corrupt political class. The entire family appears to have benefited on some level from Hunter Biden’s illicit globe-trotting dealings.
On top of the tax evasion and gun purchase form forgery, Hunter Biden is suspected of having traded on access to his father’s various high-ranking political offices for lots of money from foreign governments and multinational corporations. It was a brazen, decades-long influence-peddling scheme from a Hollywood political thriller.
That the House GOP has had difficulty penetrating the murky swamp that is the Biden Syndicate’s finances (or getting a straight answer from the Biden Family) is made more shocking by the fact that the DOJ has been slow to pursue Hunter Biden for the tax evasion and gun purchase form forgery accusations. It should prove how corrupt the entire system is.
No one wants to punish Biden and the Democrats for their egregious levels of corruption and criminality.
Double-Standards and Democrats
More troublingly is the fact that the Democrats and their allies in the so-called criminal “justice” system couldn’t wait to throw the book at former Republican President Donald J. Trump for what was an actual nothingburger crime a month ago.
Back then, Trump was accused by a politically motivated Manhattan district attorney of having improperly funneled Trump Organization money to the pornographic actress, Stormy Daniels, with whom the former president is believed to have had an extramarital affair in 2006.
The money, it is believed, was paid to keep Stormy Daniels silent as Trump ran for the presidency in 2016. That the Trump Organization mislabeled the purpose of that 2016 payout as “attorney fees” is what brought down the wrath of the Liberal Manhattan DA’s office. Yet, this sort of thing happens all the time in American business.
No one goes to prison over it, let alone gets indicted. Since Trump is so loathed and he is running for reelection in 2024, however, the Left had to do something to damage him in the press. Thus, Trump became the first indicted person to run for the presidency in history.
Not only were charges against Trump in the Manhattan case exaggerated for maximum political effect, but they were also beyond the ordinary statute of limitations. The only reason that none of these standards were respected was that the Democrats want Trump kept down, whereas they need Hunter Biden’s criminal behavior out of the press for as long as possible.
That’s why it has taken four years to charge (maybe, at this rate) Hunter Biden for tax evasion and forging a gun purchase form. It usually takes two years for charges to come down for these crimes.
Democrats claim to be for equality in our political system. What about equality in the eyes of the law?
Leftists argue that Hunter Biden should not be held to the same standard as a former president, like Donald Trump.
Why not? Where in the US Constitution does it say that a former president should be held to a higher standard than a First Son? And what about all the young, African-American men that Vice-President Kamala Harris threw the book at over what many believed to have been trumped-up drug charges to increase her office’s conviction rate when she was a prosecutor in California?
Fair is Fair, Isn’t It?
If they blow up minor charges to stick it to Trump for petty partisan political gamesmanship, they should absolutely pursue Hunter Biden for tax evasion.
The only reason that the Liberals are hesitant to allow for that to occur is that they fear investigating Hunter Biden for these crimes might open the door to more significant crimes that Hunter Biden is suspected of having committed.
But the Left keeps blocking this investigation from reaching its logical conclusion.
Remember that the next time the partisans on the Left try to convince you about how corrupt the Republicans are. If Hunter were a Republican or related to a Republican official, he’d have been sent to prison years ago.
Since Hunter is a Democrat, he gets a free pass.
