Here’s How Donald Trump Responded to DeSantis Twitter Campaign Launch Rumors:

Look for Donald Trump to get a little crazy on social media or anywhere else in the next few days for one specific reason: here comes Ron DeSantis.

Team Trump has responded to news that Florida Governor Ron DeSantis may be finally set to announce his long-rumored 2024 presidential campaign, slamming the former Trump backer over his decision to make the announcement on Twitter.

Ron DeSantis is expected to make the announcement in a discussion with Twitter CEO Elon Musk via the “Spaces” feature, which allows users to engage in live audio conversations that are available to all Twitter users.

The discussion is set to be moderated by tech entrepreneur David Sacks, a supporter of the Florida governor and a friend of Twitter CEO Elon Musk.

What Did Donald Trump Say?

Speaking to Politico, a Trump adviser said that announcing his campaign on the social media platform is “perfect for Ron DeSantis.”

“This way he doesn’t have to interact with people and the media can’t ask him any questions,” the adviser continued.

Karoline Leavitt, a spokeswoman or the Make America Great Again Inc. PAC that supports the former president, also issued a statement slamming the plans as unrelatable.

“This is one of the most out-of-touch campaign launches in modern history. The only thing less relatable than a niche campaign launch on Twitter, is DeSantis’ after party at the uber elite Four Seasons resort in Miami,” Leavitt said.

Trump Goes Crazy on Truth Social

Trump also attacked DeSantis on his Truth Social. He posted that, “Ron DeSanctus can’t win the General Election (or get the Nomination) because he VOTED TO OBLITERATE SOCIAL SECURITY, EVEN WANTING TO RAISE THE MINIMUM AGE TO 70 (or more!), VOTED TO BADLY WOUND MEDICARE, AND FOUGHT HARD AND VOTED FOR A 23% “TAX ON EVERYTHING” SALES TAX. He was, and is, a disciple of horrible RINO Paul Ryan, and others too many to mention. Also, he desperately needs a personality transplant and, to the best of my knowledge, they are not medically available yet. A disloyal person!”

How We Know the Discussion Is Happening

While DeSantis himself has not confirmed that the conversation will take place, sources familiar with the matter confirmed to Fox News that the rumors are true and that the Florida governor will announce his candidacy during the Twitter discussion on Wednesday.

Casey DeSantis, the wife of Governor DeSantis, also lent credence to the story with a tweet published on Tuesday afternoon. Tweeting a link to a Fox News story about the rumored announcement, Florida’s first lady wrote, “Big if true.”

The DeSantis War Room Twitter account also changed its bio to read “Wednesday” on Tuesday afternoon as the reports went viral.

If that wasn’t enough evidence that the announcement is imminent, Elon Musk himself also retweeted a post by Fox News reporter Bill Melugin on Tuesday afternoon that confirmed DeSantis will announce his candidacy in a Twitter Spaces interview with Musk at 6pm ET on Wednesday.

Twitter users will be able to listen in to the Twitter Space discussion by logging into the app, or via a browser, and clicking on the link on Elon Musk’s Twitter account, which uses the handle @elonmusk.

Twitter is available as an app on both the Google Play Store and Apple App Store.
