The Democrats Might Finally Have Destroyed Donald Trump

There’s a common saying “what you resist, persists.” Both Donald Trump and his adversaries may want to consider the implications of this time-tested truth.

After five years of pursuing Donald J. Trump with the fierceness of a pit bull, the Democrats and DOJ may have finally found substantial incriminating evidence.

The Proof

An audio recording released by CNN earlier this week reveals a longer version of the conversation that was only partially included in the indictment a few weeks ago. The tape, captured at Trump’s Bedminster golf club In New Jersey the summer after Trump left office, recorded Trump in a discussion regarding a potential attack on Iran. He was talking with a publisher and writer working on a memoir by Trump’s final chief of staff, Mark Meadows.

Over the sound of shuffling papers, Trump tells his guests, “This was him,” seemingly referring to Mark Milley, Trump’s then chairman of the joint chiefs of staff. “All sorts of stuff. Pages long. Let’s see here.”

He continues:

“Isn’t that amazing? This totally wins my case, you know. Except it is highly confidential, this is secret information.”

Despite the incriminating evidence, Donald Trump maintains what he was displaying to the gentlemen in attendance were not classified documents but instead clippings of news articles about Milley and military plans for Iran.

Trump can’t seem to help himself. He has to brag about his status and intel, and for no good reason, really, other than to satisfy his own ego.

The Boy Who Cried Wolf

While Trump’s haters may feel a twisted sense of elation for finally getting Trump (no, really), the same amount of people – and not just his dedicated MAGA base – are exhausted from the litany of false persecution. While the latest indictment on Trump actually has some legs, many of the charges against him have been flimsy at best and completely baseless at worst, like the Russia collusion hoax

The fervor of indictments, along with the fact a majority have proven unsuccessful in taking Trump down, have raised doubts among Americans and caused them to believe the cases against Trump are indeed politically motivated.

This is true particularly among Republican voters. A Reuters/Ipsos poll found 81% of self-identified Republicans said politics were driving Trump’s classified documents indictment, despite denials and “no comment” from the DOJ and Joe Biden.

This number vastly exceeds the 30-35% of Republican supporters who are estimated by political analysts to make up his core base.

It feels like the boy who cried wolf. Voter skepticism and apathy increases with every failed attempt to finally proclaim gotcha against Trump. It’s becoming apparent that the constant cries to burn Trump at the stake have only served to bolster his popularity.

Indictments Fuel Trump’s Fire

As a recent article stated, “The harder Democrats hit Donald J. Trump, the higher his poll numbers go.”

While Trump has been leading the Republican primary polls for quite some time now, it was dubious whether or not he could pull in enough independent voters to beat Biden in the general.

That has changed. The most recent polling places Trump leading Biden by anywhere from one to four points.

Trump acknowledged his rise in the polls at the Faith and Freedom Coalition last weekend.

“I’m probably the only person in the history of this country that’s been indicted, and my numbers went up.”

Biased Coverage on Donald Trump

Also of note is the amount of audio leaks that seem to accompany any Trump attack. From his taboo conversation with Billy Bush in a trailer about grabbing women “by the p__y,” to the most recent recording, everything Donald Trump says seems to find its way into the press, even a decade later.

Yet, suspiciously, nothing from the other side of the aisle seems to make it to the desks of journalists. Not with the Clintons. Not with the Obamas. Not with the Bidens. And we all know it’s not because they don’t have dirty laundry. It’s just that – surprise, surprise – it never seems to get aired.

This is not to say the most recent claims against Trump are not legitimate, but the multitude of those that preceded them were not.

Dig long and hard enough into anyone’s past and eventually you’ll find a skeleton. Mainstream journalists don’t seem to put their shovels to work near as fervently on the left as they do the right. Democrats have gotten away with much worse, and the public demands no blood.

Between imbalanced mainstream media coverage and the loose leash that the justice system seems to keep the left side of the aisle tied to, it’s hard to argue against political bias.

In this way, maybe Trump is the sacrificial lamb. If he is, once and for all, taken down, maybe the pit bulls will focus their attention in another direction. Even so, it’s unlikely that direction will involve a left-hand turn.
