In a recent interview on comedian Adam Carolla’s podcast, conservative media pundit Tucker Carlson expressed his concerns about the safety of former President Donald Trump.
Carlson’s remarks have generated significant attention, raising questions about the potential risks faced by the former president amid ongoing legal and political challenges.
During the interview, Carlson questioned the escalating series of events surrounding Trump, starting with criticism and protests, leading to impeachment and indictments.
He remarked, “You know, graph it out, man! We’re speeding toward assassination, obviously. No one will say that, but I don’t know how you can’t reach that conclusion.”
Donald Trump: ‘They’re Savage Animals’
Carlson’s comments came shortly after he conducted an interview with Trump, which was published via Twitter or X.
In that interview, Carlson directly asked Trump whether he was worried about attempts on his life given the numerous congressional and criminal investigations he has faced in recent years.
“Are you worried that they’re going to try and kill you? Why wouldn’t they try and kill you? Honestly,” Carlson asked Trump.
“They’re savage animals; they’re people that are sick,” Trump responded.
In 2023, Trump was indicted four times in connection with various legal matters, including his personal business dealings in New York, handling of classified documents in Florida, and efforts to overturn the results of the 2020 election in Georgia and Washington, D.C. Trump has consistently pleaded not guilty to all charges and dismissed them as politically motivated.
Despite the ongoing legal challenges, Trump remains the front-runner for the GOP nomination for the 2024 presidential election.
He chose to sit down for the interview with Carlson instead of participating in the first Republican primary debate, which was aired on Fox News.
It’s worth noting that Carlson left Fox News in April and has since launched a version of his former prime-time show on the X platform.
Previous Assassination Attempt on Donald Trump
Michael Sandford, the British national who was imprisoned in the United States for attempting to shoot then-Republican candidate Donald Trump, returned to the United Kingdom in 2017 after serving less than five months of his one-year sentence. Sandford had been sentenced in December 2016 for being an illegal alien in possession of a firearm and disrupting an official function in the US.
The 20-year-old Sandford attempted to grab a police officer’s gun during a Donald Trump rally in Las Vegas in June 2016. He was subsequently arrested and confessed to planning to shoot the then GOP Presidential candidate.
Sandford, who has autism, had driven from San Bernardino, California, to Las Vegas with the intent to kill Mr. Trump. During the trial, it was revealed that he had taken shooting lessons in the city the day before the rally. His defense argued that he suffered from mental illness and was in the midst of a psychotic episode at the time of the incident.
