Is the Media Giving Joe Biden a Pass?

More Classified Documents Found at Joe Biden’s Home – SNL Largely Ignored It – NBC’s Saturday Night Live, which returned this weekend after a hiatus for the holidays, missed an opportunity to poke fun at President Joe Biden, and the number of classified documents that continue to be found in his possession.

Instead, the show opened by roasting embattled lawmaker Rep. George Santos (R-N.Y.) over his embellished résumé and recent controversies.

Biden was spared – at least for now – over the classified documents that continue to be found.

Instead, the president appeared via a pre-recorded video during host Aubrey Plaza’s opening monologue, where he said with a smile, “Aubrey, you’re the most famous person out of Delaware and there’s no question about that. We’re just grateful you made it out of White Lotus alive.”

Actors Ryan Phillippe, Valerie Bertinelli, and musician George Thorogood might disagree on the most famous person to come from the Diamond State, however.

Weekend Update – Little on Biden

On SNL’s “Weekend Update” segment, Santos was also the top story. At the same time, Michael Che only joked that “six additional Obama era classified documents” were found at Biden’s home, “worse one of them was Obama’s real birth certificate. It was hidden in a copy of Black Tail magazine.”

Weekend Update co-anchor Colin Jost then compared the Biden and Trump classified document scandals, joking, “They share one big thing in common, they both make Hillary Clinton want to blow her goddamn brains out.” Jost added, “It would have been so funny if they searched Biden’s garage and he had Hillary’s server.

Joe Biden Has More Document Drama

On Saturday, Biden’s personal attorney Bob Bauer told reporters that additional classified materials were discovered during a search of the president’s Wilmington, Delaware, home on Friday. The search reportedly lasted some 13 hours.

“At the outset of this matter, the President directed his personal attorneys to fully cooperate with the Department of Justice,” Bauer said Saturday night. “Accordingly, having previously identified and reported to DOJ a small number of documents with classification markings at the President’s Wilmington home, and in the interest of moving the process forward as expeditiously as possible, we offered to provide prompt access to his home to allow DOJ to conduct a search of the entire premises for potential vice-presidential records and potential classified material.”

This is now the third time in just recent weeks that classified documents had been discovered in Biden’s possession. The initial documents had reportedly been found last November at the Penn Biden Center in Washington, D.C. which then prompted U.S. Attorney General Merrick Garland to appoint U.S. Attorney Robert Hur as special counsel to investigate the records, Newsweek reported.

Some of the items recently discovered dated from Biden’s tenure in the Senate, where he represented Delaware from 1973 to 2009. Additional items were from his tenure as vice president in the Obama administration from 2009 to 2017.

President Biden has attempted to downplay the classified documents probe, stating last Thursday, “I think you’re going to find there’s nothing there.”
