Donald Trump’s Big Vice President Pick Could Shock the World

Donald Trump likely will want a vice president who is an attack dog and would be an unquestioning follower.

Trump chose then Indiana Gov. Mike Pence in 2016 as his running mate because he needed someone who had strong connections with the Republican establishment and who would be a ‘yes’ man.

Georgia Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene clearly fits the Trumpian mold and could be a choice. She’s a firebrand and a committed Trump loyalist. Today’s GOP differs from 2016 in that Trump has remade the party in his own image.

Greene has her eyes on the vice presidency, according to Trump ally Steve Bannon.

“This is no shrinking violet. She’s ambitious — she’s not shy about that, nor should she be,” Bannon told NBC News. “She sees herself on the shortlist for Trump’s VP. Paraphrasing Cokie Roberts, when MTG looks in the mirror she sees a potential president smiling back.”

For her part, Greene has evaded questions.

“That’s up to President Trump who he chooses,” she told The Associated Press.

Marjorie Taylor Greene: a Donald Trump Stalwart

Greene organized a short, abortive rally supporting Trump near the Manhattan courthouse in April following his indictment in the Stormy Daniels business fraud case.

She took to a bullhorn saying she had come to New York to “peacefully protest” against the “persecution” of Trump.

“The government has been weaponized against him,” Greene said at the rally. “This is a travesty, and I’m here as a representative and a member of Congress to take a stand and to use my First Amendment right to speak out against this.”

Her show of loyalty did not last long before her protest was drowned out by New York Democratic Party activists who were aligned with Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.

Following the announcement of Trump’s indictment for mishandling classified documents after he left the White House, Greene denounced what she saw as the double standard between how he has been treated in contrast with the Bidens.

“Democrats must literally shake with sweats when they see amazing packed out Trump rallies and overwhelming winning poll numbers week after week. They must awake in the night with panic at the thoughts of us winning in 2024,” Greene said on Twitter. “Their heads must ache painfully from never ending think tank sessions in white walled rooms trying to figure out how to cover up everyone’s crimes because their web of crimes and corruption are so intricately weaved together while they contort their minds to come up with never ending fake crimes from fake accusations as they harass innocent people any where in or near the Trump orbit.”

Greene at Odds With MAGA, Inc.

In an effort to win acceptance by mainstream Republicans like Speaker Kevin McCarthy, Greene signed onto the recent debt deal despite Trump’s urging that they choose to default.

Greene also helped broker the deal that made McCarthy speaker.

She slammed Bannon in a text message to Rep. Matt Gaetz following the debt deal.

“I have almost the same identical voting record as Thomas Massie, the most fiscally conservative member of Congress. And I voted with him on this bill,” Greene wrote in a text message obtained by The Daily Beast, referring to the debt limit deal. “And Bannon, who was senior counsel to Trump in the WH and responsible for the first debt ceiling increase bc Bannon is reckless and no where near fiscally responsible, is now telling everyone I should be primaried.

Greene continued: “I just had a town hall in Cobb County last night in the most populated area in my district and it was extremely successful. Standing ovation when I went in and standing ovation when I left.”

Greene’s problems with Trump’s MAGA influencers who have the former president’s ear might not bode well for her quest to become his running mate.
