Donald Trump Says He’s Open to Hiring Contenders In Next Administration – Former President Donald Trump told Fox News host Maria Bartiromo last week that he could be open to hiring one of his Republican presidential contenders in a future Trump administration. The 2024 GOP frontrunner even mentioned Senator Tim Scott of South Carolina by name, recalling projects the two men worked on during his time as president and describing him and others as “talented.”

Appearing on “Sunday Morning Futures,” the former president was asked what he thought of his Republican contenders and whether he believed any of them would be potential vice-presidential material.

“Is there anyone on that stage you see as a potential running mate, as your VP?” Bartiromo asked the former president.

Trump, who has so far only taken direct aim at Florida Governor Ron DeSantis in his campaign to fend off Republican challengers, said that he would.

“Possibly. I mean, I think you have some good people on the stage,” Trump said. “Actually, I think you have some very talented people. I’ve been impressed by some of them. Some of them I’m very friendly with.”

The former president hesitated to mention too many names, though when asked, he confirmed that he could see Scott serving a role in a possible second Trump administration.

“I think he’s a very good guy. And we did opportunity zones together,” Trump said, a plan that allowed taxpayers to “reap significant tax benefits by making powerful investments into our most economically stagnant areas,” according to Scott’s official website.

What About Ramaswamy as the Donald Trump VP Pick?

During the same discussion, the former president offered some kind words for Vivek Ramaswamy, an entrepreneur also running for the Republican presidential nomination. Trump said that he believes Ramaswamy has done a “very good job” on the campaign so far.

“I think Vivek has done a very good job, frankly. I think some others have done a good job,” Trump said.

The comments come as some speculate whether Trump may consider picking Ramaswamy as his running mate, with a Turning Point Action straw poll finding last week that the long-shot presidential candidate is the third-favorite for the vice-presidential slot on the next Republican ticket. While Ramaswamy couldn’t beat failed Arizona gubernatorial candidate Kari Lake to the VP top slot, however, he did easily win a survey that asked Turning Point Action conference attendees who would be their second choice for president.

The poll found that Ramaswamy was the second choice for 51.2% of respondents, with former President Trump coming second with 21%.
