Is There a Shadow Campaign to Unseat Joe Biden? – Preeminent neoconservative and virulent “Never Trump” writer, Eliot A. Cohen, is pleading with President Joe Biden to “step aside” in his recent article in The Atlantic.
Cohen is an interesting man.
Having spent most of his adult life swimming in the same ideological pools as many on the pre-Trump era Right—notably the men who ultimately helped to organize (and lose) the George W. Bush Administration Iraq War in 2003—Cohen found himself jumping from the Republican Party because of his aforementioned antipathy toward President Donald J. Trump.
Now, it seems that Cohen has had enough of Mr. Biden.
Haven’t we all?
Of course, that doesn’t mean that Cohen is moving back to the Right. Far from it. His argument is that Joe Biden is far too old to run for a second term believably.
For Cohen, himself a sexagenarian, aging takes far too great a toll on the body and mind for Biden to be effective as president. Cohen clearly finds solace in having the word salad-spewing Kamala Harris, who has never enjoyed a major policy accomplishment in the entirety of her time as vice-president, take over from Biden.
In all honesty, I don’t support either of these two people for dogcatcher, let alone president.
And I’ve been highly critical of “Sleepy” Joe Biden. But the notion that Vice-President Harris would be any better than Biden is insane.
Kamala Harris’ Elite Appeal
In fact, her age, race, and sex would make her more of a problem for Republicans to potentially defeat if they had to run against her in a presidential election—especially if she was running as Biden’s heir after something tragic happened to him or if he had to step down due to old age.
The American voters may feel sympathy for her that they’d ordinarily not feel, prompting them to vote for Harris rather than remembering her insane incompetence.
What’s more, I worry that Harris is far more ideologically to the Left than even Biden, who I suspect is simply your typical corrupt Blue State Democratic Party politician. That’s not to excuse Mr. Biden’s abysmal presidency.
Where Cohen sees an honorable man who saved America, I see in Biden a broken individual who is being pushed around by radically Left-wing ideologues (and his wife) as well as who is committed to maximizing his family’s financial gains from his time as president. All as those radically Left-wing ideologues surrounding Biden cover up for his apparent cognitive decline.
That’s not honorable.
More importantly, Biden hasn’t saved this country from anything, as Cohen suggests. He’s probably worsened whatever decline we were experiencing when he took power. And Biden has weakened America abroad, which is surprising that Cohen seems to gloss over that fact, given Cohen’s professional background as an expert in U.S. foreign policy.
At the same time, though, Harris might end up being a more efficient agent for achieving the grand goals of the Left: cutting America down to size. She doesn’t seem to have the baggage that the Biden Family has. While she’s been lackluster as vice-president, Harris is younger than Biden and seems to be a committed Leftist. She’d be much better at destroying America.
Perhaps that is the point.
Cohen is not merely speaking for himself in his Atlantic article. He’s a well-connected member of America’s bipartisan elite. A subaltern to their power. Clearly, the movement is afoot to put the squeeze on the addled Joe Biden to get him to bow out of what will undoubtedly be a contentious 2024 Presidential Election Cycle.
Is this coming from the “Never Trump” Neocons who became Biden Republicans, or is this coming from the Democratic Party’s leadership?
It doesn’t seem that Biden is interested in stepping aside.
Even as evidence surfaces that someone had slipped cocaine into a sensitive area of the White House (near the Situation Room), the implication being that it was the First Son’s, a known cocaine addict, and that has done little to dissuade Biden from running again.
Thus, there is likely a shadow war occurring behind the scenes among our uniparty elites. They desperately want to prevent the Republicans—specifically Donald J. Trump—from getting reelected.
Therefore, Cohen’s article is likely but the first of many pieces in an evolving whisper campaign by powerful insiders to push Biden out. They’re banking that a female person of color, despite her string of public embarrassments these last few years, like Kamala Harris, will be enough to squelch the Right in 2024.
Or are they looking to someone else? Who?
If Not Biden, Then Who?
Sure, Robert F. Kennedy, Jr., is running but he is an enemy of the corporate interests who own the Democratic Party. They’d likely just as soon lose the election than hand it over to RFK, Jr. The wannabe crystal healer, Marianne Williamson? Unlikely.
Jamie Dimon, probably the most brilliant man on Wall Street, is making noise like he wants to run. But just because he’s got money and is a killer businessman doesn’t mean that Dimon would be good at retail politics.
Remember Mike Bloomberg’s failed presidential campaign in 2020?
Perhaps the Democrats want someone we don’t yet know is interested in running, such as former First Lady Michelle Obama or maybe even former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton?
Whoever it might be, the sure thing is that Cohen is part of a larger movement to push the forty-sixth president out. Whether he cares to receive the message or not is another matter.
Whatever shadow campaign is underway to unseat Biden, these forces will go up against the power-and-money-hungry members of the president’s family who, apparently, refuse to relinquish power, no matter what.
Nevertheless, I’d expect the pressure campaign to keep mounting the closer we get to 2024, and the more likely it seems that Donald Trump will be the GOP nominee.
