House Speaker Kevin McCarthy has reportedly been speaking to several high-profile Republicans behind closed doors to devise the proper strategy and approach to impeaching President Joe Biden.
According to a CNN report that cites multiple “GOP sources familiar with the matter,” McCarthy wants to start the ball rolling on impeaching the president as early as the end of September.
Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene also told the news outlet that there is a “very, very good” chance for an impeachment effort to bear fruit this time. “He is spending the recess talking about it constantly, I really feel strongly that that’s something that’s going to happen.”
“A natural step forward”
The conservative California representative has floated the idea of impeaching Biden earlier but has been more cautious than many of his other colleagues.
Lawmakers like Georgia Greene and Colorado Representative Lauren have filed several resolutions seeking to remove the president from office.
However, in light of increasing evidence that suggest Hunter Biden misused his standing and misrepresented himself to potential investors, McCarthy seems more comfortable and confident to go forward with impeachment proceedings and called it a “natural step forward.”
In an interview with Fox News, McCarthy said that they keep uncovering new information about alleged Biden family corruption each week.
He said that Congress found out “what President Biden told us when he was running for office is not true. He said he never had any dealings with his son’s business and that he never even talked to them. We’ve now found out that not only did he call in to the meetings, he went to dinner. And after the dinner, Hunter Biden got a new Porsche that there was $3.5 million transferred.”
On top of this, he claims that he has evidence that the Biden family created “20 shell companies” and “received 16 of 17 payments from Romania while he (Biden) was vice president. We now found that the money would flow to nine family members. He has to continue to change this.”
For former president Donald Trump, Biden’s guilt is a given. He put out a call to action for Republican lawmakers on his Truth Social account, saying, “The Republicans in Congress, though well meaning, keep talking about an Impeachment ‘Inquiry’ on Crooked Joe Biden. … You don’t need a long INQUIRY to prove it, it’s already proven,” Trump wrote on Truth Social on Sunday. “Either IMPEACH the BUM, or fade into OBLIVION. THEY DID IT TO US!”
