Yet another search for classified documents was conducted at the home of President Joe Biden on Wednesday – this time, it was at his residence in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware. The latest search was conducted as part of the special counsel investigation into his handling of classified materials.

Documents had previously been discovered at his home in Wilmington, Delaware, and at his former offices at the Penn Biden Center in Washington, D.C., which he used after leaving the vice presidency. Some of the materials discovered date back to his time serving in the United States Senate, while others are from when Joe Biden was vice president during the Obama administration.

“Today, with the President’s full support and cooperation, the DOJ is conducting a planned search of his home in Rehoboth, Delaware,” Biden’s personal attorney Bob Bauer wrote in a statement.

“Under DOJ’s standard procedures, in the interests of operational security and integrity, it sought to do this work without advance public notice, and we agreed to cooperate,” Bauer added. “The search today is a further step in a thorough and timely DOJ process we will continue to fully support and facilitate. We will have further information at the conclusion of today’s search.”

The FBI’s search took three and a half hours, from 8:30 am until 12 noon ET.

Joe Biden: Yet Another Search?

Biden’s personal attorneys had conducted a search of the home in the coastal community of Rehoboth Beach on January 11, and reportedly no classified documents were found.

This latest FBI search now marks the third known time that federal agents have conducted an investigation into properties associated with the president.

However, it was only disclosed on Tuesday that the FBI had searched the Penn Biden Offices back in November, just weeks after an initial number of documents had been discovered. That was followed by an FBI search of the Wilmington home on January 20, which turned up several documents.

Approval Ratings Hold Steady

The disclosure that numerous classified documents had been found in Biden’s home and office has not impacted his approval rating much, and Americans seem not to be overly concerned.

According to a Monmouth University survey released on Wednesday, Biden’s approval rating actually rose by one point, up from 42 percent in December. His disapproval rating actually fell from 50 percent to 48 percent – the first time in Monmouth’s polling that the disapproval dipped below 50 percent since September 2021.

Only about 38 percent of those surveyed said they were very concerned by the revelations that classified materials found at Biden’s home could pose a national security threat, while 29 percent said they were somewhat concerned, and 29 percent said they were not too concerned.

By contrast, 40 percent said they were very concerned that the documents found at former President Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago home in Florida posed a threat, while just 22 percent had the same concerns about materials found at former Vice President Mike Pence’s residence in Indiana.

Yet, Biden’s approval still sits below the three most recent former two-term presidents at this point in their respective terms in the Oval Office.
