WATCH: Russian Vehicle Destroyed After Ukraine ‘Drone’ Grenade Strike: Video footage shared on Telegram back in February shows a Russian infantry fighting vehicle left completely destroyed after bursting into flames.

The vehicle was destroyed by a Ukrainian grenade that was dropped from an unmanned aerial vehicle.

Such video footage, of drones using simple grenades to destroy all types of Russian armor like tanks and common BMP weapons, is all over social media. Such footage is a staple of war that has been raging for over a year and shows truly no end in sight.

What We Know

The video starts by showing grenades being dropped repeatedly on top of the tanks.

Several tries fail, with the grenade bouncing off the hull and onto the ground, creating only small explosions.

Seconds later, however, the infantry fighting vehicle is seen engulfed in flames and left completely destroyed.

Ukrainian drone operators were able to successfully drop the grenade precisely into the vehicle’s hatch, setting the interior of the vehicle on fire.

According to the Ukrainian Telegram channel that shared the post, the vehicle seen in the video was a Russian BMP-2.

“Destruction of the Russian BMP-2,” the Telegram post’s caption reads.

The clip was reposted on Twitter by Euromaiden Press, which claimed that the video was filmed somewhere in the Donbas region of eastern Ukraine.

Given how fighting in the Donbas regions has intensified in recent months, it could suggest that the vechicle was recently abandoned by Russian soldiers and Ukrainian troops are working diligently to ensure that the vehicles cannot be recaptured and reused by the Russians in the event of any new Russian gains.

“Ukrainian defenders burn down a Russian infantry fighting vehicle in the Donbas region, eastern Ukraine,” Euromaiden Press writes.

“A Ukrainian drone did not stop dropping grenades on the Russian armored vehicle BMP-2 until it caught fire and exploded.”
