Joe Biden Thinks the Economy Will Get Him Reelected: That Could Be a Mistake – President Joe Biden will never let an opportunity pass to tell the American people that under his administration, the country saw record job growth – of more than 13 million jobs created.

Of course, missing from the equation is that many people simply returned to work. Those are so-called “Born Again Jobs” that people already had before the Covid-19 pandemic shut the country down.

The House Budget Committee was quick to address that fact, reporting, “Nearly 72 percent of all job gains since 2021 were simply jobs that were being recovered from the pandemic, not new job creation. In fact, when looking at today’s economy compared to pre-pandemic levels, employment is up only by 3.7 million.”

Unemployment fell to 3.6 percent last month, another near-record. However, the country’s labor shortage is still due to the fact that many Americans, especially younger people, are simply not all that interested in working. “The Great Resignation” may be over, as many have realized that they simply can’t “not work,” yet one in ten young people simply haven’t entered the workforce and have no intention of doing so! Millions of others have simply left the workforce.

Biden also has touted the fact that annual inflation fell to 3 percent in June, its lowest level in more than two years – but again overlooks that the nation also saw the highest level of inflation in 40 years, hitting 9.1 percent in June 2022.  Wages have also failed to keep up inflation, so those who are working are seeing their dollars stretched further!

Bidenomics – Is it Working? Depends on Who You Ask

During a visit to South Carolina to tout his economic record, President Biden stated boldly, “Our plan is working. And one of the things I’m proudest of is that it’s working everywhere, not just on the coasts and big cities, like previous recoveries. This time, investment is working, and factories are being built, and jobs are being created — happening in rural America, the heartland, all across America — in communities that have been left out and hollowed out.”

Ronna McDaniel, chair of the Republican National Committee (RNC) offered a different view in her rebuttal.

“Pay more, get less — that’s Bidenomics,” said McDaniel. “Voters in South Carolina and around the country reject Joe Biden’s failed agenda because they know four more years of Biden means four more years of higher prices, falling wages, and Democrats raising taxes.”

Joe Biden will have to sell the American people on the fact that the economic recovery is real, while also touting expensive infrastructure projects that is only raising the national debt. The question is whether Joe Biden is a good enough salesman to actually convince Americans that things are getting better.

As long as prices remain high, that could be a hard sell.
