The video, shot from above by an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV), shows how Ukraine continues to take out Russian military vehicles at a pace faster than Russia can replace them.

The video shows Russian soldiers walking around a self-propelled howitzer before a guided missile strikes the vehicle and throws the soldiers to the ground.

The howitzer then catches fire, and onboard ammunition gradually ignites one by one.

The vehicle is eventually left in a ball of flames.

Ukraine Weapons Tracker, a popular Twitter account that monitors the war in Ukraine, shared the clip on Wednesday.

“In #Donetsk Oblast, the Ukrainian army destroyed a Russian 2S1 122mm self-propelled howitzer and damaged a 2A36 Giatsint-B 152mm towed howitzer using M982 Excalibur guided projectiles,” Ukraine Weapons Tracker writes.

Russia Keeps Pushing Ahead

Despite a tank, ammunition, and weapons shortage, Russian forces keep on pushing ahead.

Serhiy Cherevaty, the spokesman for the Ukrainian easter forces, said this week that the Ukrainian military is managing to hold off Russian forces despite adverse weather conditions, and described how Russian forces have experienced “colossal” losses in recent months.

“The Ukrainian military in incredibly difficult weather conditions under heavy enemy fire keep the situation under control,” Cherevaty said. “The occupiers have suffered colossal losses during this entire period, and have not been able to systematically break through our defense anywhere.”

Despite the losses, Russia is pushing ahead in several parts of Ukraine, perhaps most notably in Soledar, a salt-mining town just north the city of Bakhmut. Russia claimed last week to have taken control of the town, while Ukrainian forces insist that fighting in the region still continues.

British intelligence confirmed that Ukraine likely maintains control of several positions throughout the town, too, despite heavy assaults from Wagner mercenaries.

Zelenskyy Promises Return Of Donetsk to Ukraine

In his nightly address on January 18, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy promised that the Ukrainian flag would once again fly over Donetsk airport, Donetsk city, and all other territories across the Donbas region.

The Donbas, which includes Donetsk and Luhansk Oblasts, has witnessed some of the worst fighting since the beginning of the war.

It was Putin’s initial target for his military, and despite claiming to have annexed a total of four regions in Ukraine, it has once again become the focus for the Russian military as it struggles with a weapons and ammunition shortage.

“I am confident that the Ukrainian flag will return to the Donetsk airport, Donetsk and other cities and villages of our Donbas and other temporarily occupied territories,” Zelenskyy said. “Temporarily is the key words.”
